Scholarship for Engineering students in India opens up a gateway to an excellent career with immense growth opportunities. All the financial hurdles which may come in an engineering aspirant's path can easily be put off through Scholarship for Students of Engineering in India. Amongst them, IOCL has not come up with any scholarship since 2016. Most of these Scholarships for Engineering students in India are available for the students pursuing first-year engineering course which can be renewed from the second year until the completion of the course.

Scholarships for Engineering Students in India: Merit Cum Means Scholarship

Some of the companies in India offer Merit cum Means scholarship in India. Given below is a descriptive list of Merit cum Means scholarships for engineering students in India

MOMA Scholarship- Merit Cum Means Scholarship for Engineering Students

MOMA Scholarship for engineering students is offered by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India. Scholarships are given to the students belonging to national Minority Community that is Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Parsis & Jains. This scholarship is also a merit cum means scholarship and more than 20,000 scholarships are given every year.

MOMA Scholarship is offered to the students who are enrolled in engineering colleges in India and whose annual family income does not exceed Rs. 2.5 Lacs. Students would be paid Rs.10,000 per year (Rs. 5000 for day scholars) + Course Fee. Full course fees would be compensated for the students studying in selected Engineering colleges like IITs & NITs.

Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for College & University Students

CBSE Scholarship is a scholarship offered by CBSE which is given to 82000 students (41,000 each for boys and girls). The students who have taken admission in UG courses in Indian universities are eligible for CBSE scholarship. 

The selected engineering students will be paid Rs. 1000 per month for 3 years and Rs. 2,000 per month in the 4th year provided that the annual income of the family does not exceed Rs. 6 Lacs.

North South Foundation Scholarship

The scholarship for engineering students is given by North South Foundation. North South Foundation Scholarship is given to students pursuing professional courses like Engineering, Medical etc. The scholarship would be given for the entire course subject to the performance of the students.

The selected engineering students would be given a scholarship in the range of Rs. 5,000-15,000 per year given that the annual income of the family does not exceed Rs. 65,000

ONGC Scholarship for SC/ST Students

ONGC Scholarship is provided by ONGC for SC/ST students who are pursuing professional courses like Engineering. Out of 1000 scholarships, 494 will be provided to the students pursuing Engineering. The selected students will be given Rs. 4,000 per month for 4 years and the scholarship is subject to renewal every year.

To avail ONGC scholarship, the annual family income of the students should not exceed Rs. 4.5 Lacs per annum.

Siemens Scholarship 

Siemens scholarship is for 1st year engineering students in IITs and NITs and whose annual family income is less than Rs. 2 Lacs. This scholarship is offered across four years to meritorious engineering students from economically-disadvantaged families.

Panasonic Scholarship

Panasonic Scholarship is a scholarship by Panasonic India is for the 1st year engineering students who either hold a BPL card or are not able to fund their studies at IIT. An assistance of INR 42,500 per year per student for four years to cover their tuition fees is provided through Panasonic Scholarship.

Foundation for Excellence Scholarship

It is a scholarship for B.Tech and MBBS students and is given to those students whose annual family income is less than Rs. 1,80,000. This is a scholarship given on merit cum means basis.

FAEA BHEL Scholarship

It is a scholarship provided by BHEL and is given to students of Socially & Economically Weaker Backgrounds in the Below Poverty Line - BPL Category.  It is given to engineering students as well as to the students in other streams like science, arts, and commerce. It covers the tuition fee, maintenance fee, books allowance etc.

Swami Vivekanand Merit Cum Means Scholarship (For West Bengal Students)

This is the Scholarship by Govt. of West Bengal for the students of the state who have taken admission in the first year program of the Engineering. The scholarship is applicable only to students whose annual parental income is less than Rs. 2,50,000.

IndusInd Foundation Merit Cum Means Scholarship

Indusland Foundation Scholarship is for students who get admission in regular engineering degree course after Class 12. The scholarship is offered by The IndusInd Foundation which is a non-profit charitable organization. Total 1000 Scholarships are offered on a merit cum means basis every year. The monthly scholarship amount will be Rs.1000 and above and is tenable for the entire course. 

IOCL Scholarship (Discontinued)

IOCL Scholarship is offered by Indian Oil to the first engineering students who have taken admission in the college in the first year. Indian oil Scholarship is a merit cum means scholarship for engineering students whose annual family income is less than Rs. 1 lac. Preference will be given to the students whose family income is less than Rs. 60,000.

300 scholarships would be given to the engineering students. The selected students will be given Rs. 3000 per month for 4 years. IOCL also offers scholarships to Class 10/ ITI, MBBS & MBA students under this IOCL Scholarship scheme.

LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship

The scholarship is provided by LIC and is applicable for students who are pursuing graduation in any stream from a Govt./ Private college. The selected students are provided Rs. 10,000 annually to pursue higher education provided the family income does not exceed Rs. 1 Lac.

The scholarship is provided for the entire duration of the course.

Scholarships for Engineering Students in India: Merit Based

Many organizations in India provide merit-based scholarships to students who are bright but couldn't afford the high cost of higher studies. A list of all Merit-based scholarship for engineering students in India has been given below

1. UGC Scholarship for Rank Holders

UGC Scholarship is offered to meritorious students to help them in higher education. Every year, close to 20,000 students are benefited from this scholarship. The students who have secured 1st and 2nd rank in university get the scholarship from UGC to carry on their post-graduation studies.

2. Central Sector Scholarship (By MHRD)

Central Sector Scholarship is given by MHRD to the meritorious students who have secured good marks in Class 12 board exams and have taken admission in 1st year of an undergraduate course in a recognized university in India. Central Sector Scholarship is given to students on the basis of marks scored in class 12 and no separated exam s conducted for it.

3. OP Jindal Engineering & Management Scholarship (OPJEMS)
OPJEMS is a scholarship for Engineering students.
This scholarship is offered by O.P. Jindal Group companies and was started in 2007. Every year 100 scholarships are given to students from 40 engineering & management institution. The shortlisted students will take an online test to qualify for the scholarship.

Selected engineering students will receive Rs. 80,000 as scholarship.

 4. IET India Scholarship (Discontinued)

This scholarship is offered by IET for 2nd & 3rd year Engineering students in India. The scholarships worth Rs. 8 lacs will be given to the selected students. The students have to go through multiple rounds of selection including an online test to get this prestigious scholarship. This scholarship was not available for the year 2017.

5. NEST Scholarship

NEST scholarship exam is conducted by SUFI (NGO) and SEMCI and is open to 3rd & 4th year Engineering Students. NEST Scholarship is given on the basis of merit to the students in science, medical and engineering course. 10 or more scholarships of Rs. 35,000 will be given and the topper of the NEST exam will get Rs. 75,000

6. Google Anita Borg Scholarship (Only for women)

Google Anita Borg scholarship is given to female undergraduate/postgraduate students who are pursuing studies in the field of science or closely related field based on their academic performance and leadership qualities. Many Indian women have won this scholarship from Indian engineering colleges and science institutes.

7. NTPC Scholarship (Only for SC/ST & PH Candidates)

Students pursuing full-time Diploma Course in Engineering in the discipline of Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Electronics, Civil and Telecommunications in any of the institute recognised by the Government are eligible for NTPC Scholarship. The scholarship amount is Rs. 4000 per month.

8. TOEFL Scholarship

TOEFL Scholarship is for pursuing undergraduate/ graduate degree program in institutes which accept TOEFL score in India, Australia, Mainland China, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. This scholarship is provided by ETS i.e. Education Testing Service. Candidates aspiring for studying abroad can avail TOEFL scholarship. 

9. Aditya Birla Scholarship

Aditya Birla Scholarship is given by Aditya Birla Group for pursuing studies in IITs, IIMs, BITS Pilani and Law Colleges in India. Aditya Birla Scholarships cover a large part of academic fees as well as the hostel fees for the above-mentioned colleges.

10. GE Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is given to 2nd-year students of the selected engineering colleges viz. MIT Manipal, VIT Univerity Vellore, IIT Gandhinagar, BITS Pilani and Tezpur University Assam. 

11. Cargill Global Scholars Program 

The scholarship is given to students of selected engineering colleges in India which are IIT Delhi, DTU, IIT Bombay, BIT Mesra and NIT Tiruchirapalli. The students will receive a scholarship of $2,000 (USD) per year for the 3rd and 4th year of their undergraduate studies.

12. Samsung Star Scholarship (For JNV Students)

Samsung Star Scholarship is given to undergraduate students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya pursuing B.Tech & M.Tech. This scholarship is given to the students on the basis of their merit at the Joint Entrance Examination Main (Advanced).

13. Adobe India Scholarship for Women in Technology

This is an opportunity to pursue an Internship with Adobe India and also get a scholarship for the B.Tech Tuition Fee. 

14. SJVN Silver Jubilee Merit Scholarship Scheme

SJVN Merit Scholarship Scheme 2020 is provided to meritorious students for higher studies after Class 12. Students of of Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand and Maharashtra pursuing engineering course after 12th can apply for this scholarship.
