ONGC Scholarship 2019 for SC and ST students - ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited) an Indian multinational oil & gas company has come up with scholarships for SC/ST students pursuing professional courses across the nation. Total 1000 ONGC scholarships worth Rs. 48,000 each will be given annually and these scholarships can be availed only by the students pursuing professional courses in Engineering & Medical stream and Master Degree Courses in Business Administration, Geology and Geophysics. ONGC Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Age Maximum 30 years as on 1 October 2019

Nationality: The scholarship is available for Indian students studying in India only.

Educational Eligibility for ONGC Scholarship for SC/ST Students

  • Candidates pursuing full time/regular courses(4 years course only) can apply to the ONGC Scholarship
  • Candidates pursuing the 1st year of Master degree (two years course only) in Geology/Geophysics or MBA.
  • Students pursuing 1st year Engineering or MBBS course
  • College / Institution / University should be recognized by ISC/CBSE/ MCI / AICTE/ UGC / Association of Indian universities / State Education Boards/State Government / Central Government

Minimum Marks Needed for ONGC Scholarship 

Candidates applying for the scholarship should have obtained minimum 60% marks in qualifying exams.

  • Candidate should have secured a minimum of 60% in Class 12 for pursuing engineering/medical course.
  • Candidate should have secured minimum 60% of marks in graduation for pursuing the master degree course - P.G. Courses i.e. Geology/Geophysics/MBA
  • In the case of the grading system, Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA/CGPA) of minimum 6.0 in 10 points scale should be obtained by the candidate.
  • Candidates applying should not be availing any other scholarship/financial assistance from any of the sources. However, students getting fee waiver/ reimbursement of tuition fees from any of the State governments can apply for the scholarship.

Gross Annual Income of a family of the candidate from all sources should not be more than Rs. 4.50 lakhs

Not Eligible for the scholarship: Students pursuing distance mode/correspondence courses are not eligible to apply to ONGC Scholarship 2019.

ONGC Scholarship Reward

The ONGC offers total of 1000 scholarships worth Rs. 48,000 each to SC/ST candidates. The division of the reward is given below. The candidates are required to check the table given below for the distribution of reward for each zone. Candidates can see the table below:

  • Distribution of scholarships will be done zone wise
  • ONGC has divided the states into 5 Zones, and each zone is allotted with 200 scholarships. The list of the states in each zone is given below

ONGC Scholarship Reservation for Girls

The total of 50% of the ONGC scholarship is reserved for girl candidate which is an initiative to promote girls’ education and to provide them with better career opportunities.

ONGC Scholarship Renewal

  • ONGC Scholarship will be paid on an annual basis only. The continuation of scholarship once awarded is subject to the performance of the beneficiary in Annual/Semester Examinations, every year.
  • Students must obtain a minimum 5 points out of 10 points of CGPA/OGPA or minimum 50% marks in the Annual/Semester Examination to avail the scholarship for the subsequent years.
  • The scholarship will be cancelled in case students fails to fulfil the particular criteria. However, scholars can make one additional attempt to pass their exams for attaining the required percentage of marks.
  • Application for continuation of scholarship in the subsequent years of study can be submitted in the prescribed format of Annexure-A.

The instructions to submit the ONGC Scholarship for SC and ST application form is given below. Candidates are advised to follow the instructions given below:

  • Candidates need to download the application form by clicking the above link.
  • After filling the form correctly, they need to send the application form to the office of ONGC which is different for each zone
  • Application submitted should be duly verified and forwarded by the respective Head/ Principal/ Dean of the Institute, College or University in which candidate is pursuing his/her studies
  • Candidates need to submit the application form to the ONGC address of their zone.

How to know the ONGC Scholarship Zone?

Zone of the student for the application procedure will be based on the location of the institute/college/University from where the candidate has pursued his/her previous studies for qualifying for the ONGC Scholarship that is class 12 in case of Engineering/MBBS and Graduation in case of Masters course.

  • The domicile of the student will not be used in deciding the zone.

Documents to be enclosed with the application form

  • Proof of Date of Birth (10th mark sheet/Birth Certificate)
  • Caste Certificate
  • Attested copies of the mark sheet of qualifying classes
  • Income certificate issued by the Competent District Revenue Authority, not below the rank of Tehsildar
  • Bank details in the ECS Form
  • Copy of Pan Card

ONGC Scholarship Selection Process

Selection of scholars for ONGC Scholarship for SC and ST students will be based on the performance of the students in class 12 in case of admission to Engineering/Medical courses and Graduation in case of admission to Post Graduate courses i.e. Geophysics/Geology/MBA.

  • Once selected for the scholarship, a copy of the PAN card is to be submitted in favour of the candidate

ONGC Scholarship Result 

The final list of the beneficiaries of the scholarship shall be posted on the ONGC website in December 2019. Once the result will be declared, the candidates will be able to check the result on the official website of ONGC. The ONGC scholarship result is the list of students who have been selected for the scholarship.
