About SVMCM 2021

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021 is provided to the poor and meritorious students of West Bengal to pursue higher studies. The Government of West Bengal has introduced Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM) to provide financial assistance to the students whose annual family income is below Rs. 2,50,000. Swami Vivekananda Scholarship is offered to students to pursue secondary, diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate level studies. Candidates can apply only through online mode for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021. The online application form has started in July. SVMCM 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Gender Any
Region West Bengal 
Class/ Age Higher secondary, diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Domiciled and studying in West Bengal

The students of Post-Madhyamik levels in regular courses who are domiciled in West Bengal and studying in one of the educational institutions of this state after passing out from the State Board / Council of Secondary / Higher Secondary Education and Madrasah Siksha Parishad or a University of West Bengal set up by State Act can apply for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021.

Eligibility For Scholarships at Higher Secondary level

  • At least 75% in aggregate in Madhyamik Pariksha (Class 10) or its equivalent excluding optional elective subjects.
  • Students who are enrolled in Class 11 on passing Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent examination in 2021 will be eligible to apply for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021.

Eligibility For the Under Graduate

  • Students who are enrolled in the first year of Under Graduate Course after passing the H.S. Examination or its equivalent examination in 2021 will be eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must obtain at least 75% marks, consisting of two language subjects and three best elective subjects.

Eligibility For scholarships at Diploma (Polytechnic)

  • Students who are enrolled after passing-out in Secondary (M.P.) Examination or its equivalent as stated above in 2021 for first-year Diploma (Polytechnic) course
  • H.S. Examination or its equivalent for Diploma in Pharmacy or Modern office practice & Management of 2-year duration and after passing-out in ‘West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education & Training courses which are equivalent to H.S. Examination for 2nd-year Diploma (Polytechnic) courses on lateral entry basis will be eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must obtain at least 75% marks in aggregate

Eligibility For the Post Graduate level scholarships

  • At least 53% marks in Honours subjects at the Graduation level in General Education.
  • Students who are enrolled in the first-year class of Post Graduate Course in general education after passing the Graduation with Honours in 2021 will be eligible to apply on securing 55% marks in Graduation level.

Family Income Criteria

Candidates whose annual family income is Rs. 2,50,000 or less are eligible to apply.

SVMCM 2021 Reward

The candidates selected for the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship will be rewarded as under:

The recipients of Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021 will not be allowed to opt for any other scholarship/stipend from the State/Central Government for the same course/stage of the study.

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Renewal

Candidates can apply online for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Renewal. To renew the scholarship, candidates have to fill to register online, fill the scholarship renewal application form, upload the necessary documents and complete the final submission of application. Swami Vivekananda Renewal application form has to be submitted online

The Renewal of the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship is possible only if the candidate scores the following minimum %

  • Higher Secondary level: 60%
  • Graduation: 60%
  • Post Graduation: 50%

Renewal: The applicant should apply through online mode using Login Id and Password as used at the time of first application through the website svmcm.wbhed.gov.in.

Payment of Swami Vivekananda Scholarship

The Payment of Scholarship will only be done through ECS, so candidates should provide the A/c no., Bank Name, IFSC Code, MICR number of the nationalized bank in which the students has an account.

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme Benefits

This scholarship scheme provides benefits to the students of Class 11 and 12, and at under Graduate level in Engineering, Medical and Technical/ Professional programs. Apart from that, it also benefits Under Graduate, Post Graduate level students who are pursuing General Degree programs. These scholarships will be awarded to deserving students on merit-cum-means criteria.

  • Students who are pursuing M.Phil and Doctoral programs (NON-NET JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW and NET-LECTURERSHIP) from the State-aided Institutions will come under the purview of the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme.
  • Kanyashree recipients (K-2) pursuing Post Graduate programs in Science, Arts and Commerce stream from Universities of this State after obtaining Under Graduate Degree with 45% marks in aggregate from the Institutions of this State will come under the support of this Scholarship Scheme.
  • The upper ceiling for family income has been fixed at Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum.

SVMCM 2021 Application form and Process

Candidates who want to apply for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021 can apply online on the portal. The link to Swami Vivekananda scholarship online from link given below. After successful registration, applicants can apply individually for the scholarships as per their eligibility by filling up the online form. Until the last year, the students had to submit the filled application form only through offline mode but now the candidates have to submit the application form through online mode only.

  • Applicants have to register to the form application portal after which they can apply individually for the desired scholarship. 
  • The candidates have to provide the required details asked in the registration form.
  • Students are required to register before the due date.

Documents Required for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Online Form 

  • Mark sheet of Madhyamik Examination or its equivalent (Both sides)
  • Mark sheet of last Board/Council/University/College examination (Both sides)

  • Domicile certificate as Aadhaar ID/Voter ID/Ration card/Certificate Issued by the concerned authority
  • Scanned copy of Bank Passbook (1st Page, containing A/C No. and IFSC)

Submission of Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Application form

After finalizing the application, download the Verification Certificate which contains two pages. The first page is the Applicant Copy and the second page is the HOI(Head of the Institution) Copy. After verification and signed by HOI, the applicant will scan his copy and upload this in the application portal to complete the application process. 

No hard copy of the applications has to be submitted.

SVMCM 2021 Selection Process

  • It may be noted here that duly filled in and completed applications will only be considered for awarding Scholarships.
  • Level-wise number of awardees will be selected considering both merit and means of the applicants from the valid applications received within the last date of receiving applications. 
  • Any deliberate falsification in the Income documents discovered at any stage will be considered as a grievous offence and may invite serious disciplinary actions leading to:

    (1) Compulsory and immediate refund of the amount of the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship already enjoyed by the scholar.

    (2) Complete forfeiture of their right to apply for any governmental scholarship in future.

    (3) May also attract penal provisions of other relevant laws for the time being in force.

MEANS Judging Criteria for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship

The total family income for prospective scholars will not be more than Rs. 2,50,000 per annum. While applying, all the students will have to enclose an Affidavit written on a Non-judicial Stamp Paper of Rs. 10 or more, and sworn by their parent/ guardian before a Notary Public or a first-class magistrate, declaring their total family income from all sources during the preceding financial year i.e. first April of the previous year to the 31 March of the year of applying for the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship.

MERIT Judging Criteria Swami Vivekananda Scholarship

The candidates whose family income is less than Rs. 2.5 lakh per annum will be judged according to their academic merit in the under noted manner.

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021 - FAQs

Here we have mentioned some of the important questions asked by the applicants related to Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021. 

1. Whether the B. Ed students can apply for this scholarship?

Students who are in the first year of the Undergraduate Program in Engineering/ Medical/ General Education/ G.N.M. Nursing/ Para Medical Diploma Course under the aegis of Directorate of Medical Education after passing their Higher Secondary Exam or its equivalent in 2021 are eligible to apply.

2. I got 74% in Madhyamik Parriksha. Can I apply for the scholarship?

Candidates must obtain at least 75% marks in aggregate in Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent as stated above excluding optional elective subjects. Class 11 students on passing Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent exam in 2021 are eligible to apply.

3. I am studying the second year B. Tech. I completed a diploma in engineering in 2021. Can I apply for the scholarship?

Students who are enrolled after passing out in Secondary (Madhyamik Pariksha) examination or its equivalent as stated above in 2021 for first-year Diploma (Polytechnic) courses, (Higher Secondary Examination or its equivalent for Diploma in Pharmacy Modern Office Practice & Management, 3-D Animation & Graphics of 2-year duration) and after passing out H.S. (Vocational) courses from ‘West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education & Skill Development courses which is equivalent to H.S. examination for 2nd-year Diploma (Polytechnic) courses on lateral entry basis, will be eligible to apply for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2021.

4. I would like to know whether a student of B.Sc. (2nd year) who has already got scholarships from the central government, can apply for this scholarship?

No, the student can avail only 1 scholarship at a time
