JEE Main Paper 2 2018

JEE Main Paper 2 is an architecture entrance exam conducted by CBSE for admissions to the 5 years undergraduate B.Arch or B.Planning courses at the NIT’s and the centrally funded institutes (CFTIs) as well as the self-financed institutes participating in the JEE. JEE Main Paper 2 is only conducted in Pen and Paper based mode. Candidates who are applying for JEE Main Paper 1 can also apply for JEE Main Paper 2 and vice versa but the Application Fee is different for appearing in both or single exam.

Three attempts in total are allowed for each candidate who has fulfilled the JEE Main 2018 Paper 2 Eligibility Criteria. Paper 2 Registration is done along with the registration for JEE Main. JEE Main Paper 2 Answer Key will be released by various coaching institutes on the same day of the exam.

JEE Main Paper 2 is scheduled to be held on 8 April 2018 throughout India. JEE Paper 2 exam will be held from 2 PM to 5 PM. JEE Main Paper 1 result will get declared within a short span of time after the exam whereas the JEE Main Paper 2 result be declared on 31 May 2017.

JEE Main Paper 2 - Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: Candidates must have been born on or after 1 October 1993 (1 October 1988 for SC/ST candidates) to be eligible for the JEE Main Paper 2.

Academic Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 with the minimum of five subjects.
  • Candidates must have compulsorily studied a language, Physics and Mathematics.
  • Optional subjects studied by the candidates are Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational.
  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent with a minimum of 45% in aggregate (40% for SC/ST candidates)
  • Those candidates who have passed their Class 12 or Equivalent Examination in 2016 are eligible.
  • The candidates appearing for Class 12 or Equivalent Examination in 2019 are also eligible to appear in JEE Main Paper 2.
  • However, they have to fulfil the criteria mentioned above at the time of the declaration of their Class 12 results before the JEE Main Counselling for Paper 2.

JEE Main Paper 2 - Result & Selection Procedure

JEE Main Paper 2 Result (All India Rank) for the year 2018 will get declared on 31 May 2018. CBSE will release JEE Main Paper 2 marks and the rank secured by the candidates on its official website. JEE Main Paper 2 Result is valid for admission in B.Arch/ B.Planning course in the NITs and also all the other institutes that are accepting JEE Main Paper 2 Course. 


JEE Main Paper 2 Result will be based on JEE Main Answer Keys and recorded responses in the Answer sheet. The students can check their JEE Main 2018 Scores for Paper 2 by checking JEE Main Paper 2 Result. JEE Main Result for Paper 2 will be announced for all the students who appeared in the exam scheduled to be conducted on 8 April 2018.

JEE Main Paper 2 Selection Process

  • Candidates will be allotted All India Ranks on the basis of the JEE Main 2018 Scores 
  • Candidates will be offered admission on the basis of the JEE Main Paper 2 scores
  • Further, the admission will be offered based on the choices by the candidates during JEE Main 2018 Counselling.
  • All the JEE Main 2018 Participating Institutes other than the NITs or Centrally funded institutes may prepare their own ranking on the basis of the JEE Main 2018 scores as per the criteria decided by them

JEE Main Paper 2 Syllabus 2018

  • Part - I (Awareness of persons, places, Buildings, Materials) 
    • Objects, Texture related to Architecture and build-environment. 
    • Visualising three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawings. 
    • Visualising different sides of three-dimensional objects. 
    • Analytical Reasoning Mental Ability (Visual, Numerical and Verbal).
  • Part - II Three dimensional - Perception
    • Understanding and appreciation of scale and proportion of objects, building forms and elements, colour texture, harmony and contrast. 
    • Design and drawing of geometrical or abstract shapes and patterns in pencil. 
    • Transformation of forms both 2 D and 3 D union, subtraction, rotation, development of surfaces and volumes, Generation of Plan, elevations and 3 D views of objects. 
    • Creating two-dimensional and three-dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms. 
    • Sketching of scenes and activities from memory of urbanscape (public space, market, festivals, street scenes, monuments, recreational spaces etc.), landscape (river fronts, jungles. gardens, trees, plants etc.) and rural life.
