About MOMA Pre Matric Scholarship

Pre Matric Scholarship Scheme was formed to provide equal opportunity to the minority groups in the country. The scholarship scheme is carried out under Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA), established to provide financial aid to students who belong to the minority community (Muslims, Christians,  Sikhs Jains, Zoroastrians (Parsis) & Buddhists and from economically backward communities of the society. Under the MOMA Pre Matric Scholarship, the amount of Rs. 10,000-10,700 are distributed to the candidates whose family income is less than 1 lakh rupees per annum. Apart from renewal, 30 lakhs fresh scholarship are distributed under the Pre-Matric Scholarship. 30% scholarships are reserved only for girls.   • Under this Pre-Matric Scholarship scheme, the Ministry provides financial aid to children from class 1 to 10 studying in government or recognised private schools/institutes in India.
  • Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme was started in the year 2008-09 to encourage parents to send their children to school and lighten their financial burden on school education.
  • From the session 2012-13 to 2017-18, an amount of Rs. 5164.45 crore was released to benefits 3,40,56,999 students under MOMA Pre-Matric Scholarship.

MOMA Pre Matric Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Class/ Age Class 1-10

  • Parents Income: Student must belong to the economically backward class and the income of parents/guardians should not exceed a sum of Rs. 1 lakh per annum from all sources.
  • Must be from the minority community i.e. Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains & Zoroastrians 
  • Qualifying Marks: He/she must have attained at least 50% marks in the previous examination.
  • The scheme will not be given to more than two students from a family.
  • The student availing scholarship under this scheme is not eligible for benefit under other scholarship schemes.

MOMA Pre Matric Scholarship Amount

The Scholarship will be disbursed shortly after the registration process will end. Pre-Matric Scholarship would cover two components course fee/ tuition fees and maintenance allowance. Course Fee/ Tuition Fees would be credited to the school/ institutions account and Maintenance allowance would be given directly to the students.

The scheme will cover other allowances if the student lives in a hostel. The scholarship will be provided for the whole course The Scholarship is subject to renewal and would be continued only if the student scores a minimum 50% marks in the previous examination.

MOMA Pre Matric Scholarship Application form and Process

The students can apply for Pre-Matric Scholarship in an online mode. Candidates have to provide required information while registering for this scholarship. Documents to be uploaded for Pre-Matric Scholarship

The documents are required to be uploaded (for both Fresh & Renewal Scholarships) only if the eligible claim of the scholarship is more than Rs. 50,000 per student. In the case of pre-matric scholarship, the amount is less than Rs. 50,000 hence no documents are needed.

Documents needed for Verification of Online Application

The list of documents to be submitted to the Institute/School/college by the student for verification of online application

  • Student Photo. (Mandatory)
  • Institution Verification Form. (Mandatory) A copy of the form is annexed.
  • Income Certificate: Income Certificate of Parent/Guardian issued by the Competent Authority in the State Government is required(Mandatory)
  • Religion Certificate: Self Declaration of Community Certificate for Class I to 10 given by the Parent/Legal Guardian (Mandatory)
  • Marke Sheet:  Self-Attested Certificate of ‘Previous Qualifying Exam /Board Marksheet’ as filled in the Form. (Mandatory).
  • Fee Receipt of ‘Current Course Year’. (Mandatory) 
  • Proof of Bank Account  (Mandatory)
  • Residential/ Domicile Certificate (Mandatory)

Your application must be verified at the Institute and Domicile District/ Domicile State/UT level. You may contact the concerned verification authorities for online verification of your application within the timeline given on the NSP portal. Ministry of Minority Affairs will release the scholarship amount, only if your application is verified and approved by all verification authorities.
