About Pre Matric Scholarship

Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme was formed to provide equal opportunity to the minority groups in the country.The scholarship scheme is carried out under Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA), established to provide financial aid to students who belong to the minority community (Muslims, Christians,  Sikhs Jains, Zoroastrians (Parsis) & Buddhists and from economically backward communities of the society. The last date of Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme application submission has been extended. Earlier, the deadline for submitting the application form was 31 August 2017 which has been now been extended up to 30 September 2017. 

  • Under this Pre-Matric Scholarship scheme, the Ministry provides financial aid to children from class 1 to 10 studying in government or recognised private schools/institutes in India.
  • Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme was started in the year 2008-09 to encourage parents to send their children to school and lighten their financial burden on school education.

  • Adhar Card Number is Compulsory for the registration to Pre Matric Scholarship. 

The student of Class 1-8 have to apply offline and of Class 9&10 have to apply online for the scholarship scheme from 1 June 2017 to 30 September 2017.

Pre Matric Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Class/ Age Class 1-10
  • Parents Income: Student must belong to the economically backward class and the income of parents/guardians should not exceed a sum of Rs. 1 lakh per annum  from all sources.
  • Must be from the minority community (Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains & Zoroastrians )
  • Qualifying Marks: He/she must have attained at least 50% marks in previous examination.
  • Scheme will not be given to more than two students from a family.
  • The student availing scholarship under this scheme are not eligible for benefit under other scholarship schemes.

Pre Matric Scholarship Reward

The Scholarship will be disbursed in the month of September & October 2017. Pre-Matric Scholarship would cover two components course fee/ tuition fees and maintenance allowance. Course Fee/ Tuition Fees would be credited to the school/ institutions account and Maintenance allowance would be given directly to the students.

The scheme will cover other allowances if the student lives in a hostel. The scholarship will be provided for the whole course The Scholarship is subject to renewal and would be continued only if the student scores minimum 50% marks in the previous examination.

Pre Matric Scholarship Application form and Process

The students can apply for Pre-Matric Scholarship in an online or offline mode. The Students of Class 1-8 have to apply offline, and of Class 9 &10 have to apply online for the pre-matric scholarship. Candidates will have to compulsorily fill their Aadhar Number while registering for this scholarship. The deadline for submitting the application form has been extended. Earlier, the submission deadline was 31 August 2017 which has been now been extended up to 30 September 2017.

  • The State Government will supply the forms, but till then the computerised system can be put into use for applying.
  • Pre Matric Application Forms will be supplied through state governments/union territory administration.
  • All necessary documents should be attached with the application form.
  • Income certificate must be self-certification basis and from parent/guardian of the student applying for the scheme.

Documents required for Pre-Matric Scholarship

  • Self- attested Passport size photo with signature
  • Attested copies of previous examinations           
  • Income declaration
  • Document and proofs regarding permanent address
  • Receipt of acknowledgement of scholarship in the previous year duly countersigned by the Head of the school/institute.
  • Minority certificate, giving proof of the candidate falling under this category.
  • Income certificate must be self-certification basis and from parent/guardian of the student applying for the scheme.
