Indian Army Height Rule Eased, 70% more applications expected to pour in for the next camp scheduled to be held in November. The Indian Army had reduced the minimum height requirement for recruitment from the Himalayan State Region. Reducing minimum height for Indian army resulted in a substantial increase in the number of students applying for pre-recruitment training camps. 30% application has been already filled and 70% more application is expected to be filled by November.

- The Indian Army had reduced the minimum height required for Indian army from 166cm to 163 cm for the recruit from the Himalayan region of J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Garhwal and Kumaon in Uttarakhand. The decision taken by the Indian army has resulted in an immediate and drastic change in the process of filling the application for training camps in Uttarakhand.
An Army recruitment official (ARO) has said “Approximately 18,000 youths had appeared in the recruitment drive held by the Army in Gauchar in Chamoli district in April while 22,000 aspirants lined up at the recruitment drive in Dehradun in October. Several young men who had been rejected in previous drives after failing the height criteria participated in the latest recruitment exercise.”
The principal of the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering has also said after new rule made by the Indian army regard height requirement for the Indian army in the month of August, the number of pre-recruitment camps went up by 30% in September 2017. He also said that we are expecting 70% more application for November 2017 camp.
