GMAT Syllabus 2018

GMAT Syllabus 2018 for aspirants who want to crack the GMAT (Graduate Management Aptitude Test) exam. GMAT Exam will cover questions from the following four subjects, the detailed GMAT syllabus 2018 of all the four segments is discussed in this article. 

  • Analytical Writing and Ability (AWA) essay
  • Integrated Reasoning (IR) section
  • Quantitative section
  • Verbal section

GMAT exam is conducted by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) for admission to Management programs such as MBA, MBA Finance, Accountancy related courses. GMAT score is accepted for more than 6000 programs in about 1900 Institutions all over the world.

GMAT 2018 - 19

GMAT Syllabus 2018

The candidates can appear for GMAT exam up to 5 times in a year with a gap of 16 days. GMAT is a computer adaptive test and not a computer-based test because in GMAT the candidates who opt for the exam will get one question at a time and depending upon the accuracy of the previous answer, the difficulty of the next question will be prepared.The following table shows the total number of questions, type of questions and timing used in the all the above four subjects at the time of the exam:

GMAT Syllabus - Analytical Writing Assessment 

The Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) is used to measure the ability of the aspirant’s ability to think critically and to communicate their ideas. In AWA, the aspirants taking the GMAT exam, are asked to analyse the reasoning behind a given argument and write a critique of that argument in the format of an essay. The total timing for this section is 30 minutes.

GMAT Syllabus - Integrated Reasoning 

The Integrated Reasoning section normally measures the ability of the person appearing in the GMAT exam in order to assess information presented in various formats from multiple sources and the skills required to succeed in the techno-friendly and data-driven world. The total tie duration given in IR is 30 minutes. Four types of questions are used in IR. They are as follows:

  • Multi-Source Reasoning
  • Graphics Interpretation
  • Two-part Analysis
  • Table Analysis

GMAT Syllabus - Quantitative  Section

The Quantitative section measures the aspirant’s ability to analyse data and draw conclusions using reasoning skills. In the quantitative section, Mathematics of secondary school level is used to solve the questions in this section of GMAT exam. The total timing in Quantitative is 75 minutes. Two types of questions are asked in Quantitative. They are:

  • Data Sufficiency
  • Problem Solving

GMAT Syllabus - Verbal Section

Apart from abilities of the aspirants mentioned in the above sections, GMAT exam also measures the verbal skills of the aspirants through their capability to read and understand written material, to value arguments and to make the written material in corrected form to conform to standard writing in English. The total time duration in the verbal section is 75 minutes. Four types of questions are asked in this section. They are:

  • Reading
  • Comprehension
  • Critical Reasoning
  • Sentence Correction
