NEET Merit List 2018 – The merit list of NEET 2018 has been announced along with the result on 4 June. NEET UG 2018 merit list has been prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the medical entrance examination. The merit list of NEET 2018 for 50 toppers has been provided on this page. Only aspirants who have secured the minimum qualifying marks are included in NEET 2018 merit list. General category candidates must secure a minimum of 50 percentile in CBSE NEET 2018. A common NEET merit list and 15% All India Quota merit list is prepared by the CBSE. In case, the marks of two or more candidates are equal, the authority has followed the tie-breaking procedure. Considering NEET 2018 merit list for 15% AIQ, Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct NEET counselling from 12 June 2018. While, for 85% state quota seats, the counselling authorities will preaprepareir state-wise merit list for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in the medical as well as dental colleges in the state. NEET Merit List 2018

 

NEET 2018 was conducted on 6 May for admission to 90,000 undergraduate medical and dental colleges across India. The result of NEET 2018 has been announced on 4 June. Only aspirants who have secured NEET cut off are considered qualified. As mentioned earlier, 50 percentile must be secured by general category candidates, while for SC/ST/OBC, it is 40 percentile. Aspirants belonging to General PwD category are required to obtain 45 percentile. This year, a total of 13,26,725 aspirants registered for NEET.

What is NEET 2018 Cut off?

 

The cut off of NEET 2018 has been declared by CBSE. NEEt cut off is the minimum qualifying percentile which must be secured to pass the national-level medical entrance examination. Candidates securing marks corresponding to the set percentile are eligible to be included in NEET merit list 2018. NEET cut off percentile for general category candidates was 50 and the marks range corresponding to it was 697-131. NEET 2018 Merit List and its types

 

NEET merit list prepared for admission to 15% All India Quota and 85% state quota seats has been released for following types:

 

  • All India Merit List – This merit list displayed overall rank of candidates who qualified the entrance test. It is prepared irrespective of candidate’s domicile and category
  • All India 15% Quota Merit List – This list indicates the list of overall candidates who have qualified the test and are included in 15% All India Quota seats for MBBS and BDS admissions
  • 85% State Quota Merit List/AFMS/Deemed universities/Private medical colleges – This rank list will be determined by the designated state counselling authority based on NEET scores, state eligibility criteria and basic reservation guidelines

 

NEET Merit List 2018 for 15% All India Quota seats

 

Based on NEET 2018 merit list, the admission to 15% All India Quota seats in all government medical and dental colleges will be granted. The merit list of NEET 2018 for 15% All India Quota seats includes the name, All India Rank and All India Quota rank. The apex body, CBSE has declared the cut off marks along with the result, which must be secured by the candidates. Aspirants who will secure cut off percentile set by the authority for 15% All India Quota seats will be included in NEET merit list 2018. Only candidates from the state of Jammu and Kashmir will not be included in the merit list, the state does not contribute its 15% seats for AIQ. In the year 2017, the cut off marks for 15% AIQ seats was equivalent to the qualifying marks range. While, the conducting authority declared NEET cut off for the year 2016, which is provided in the table below.

NEET 2018 Merit List – Tie-Breaking Method

 

In NEET merit list, if the marks of two or more aspirants will be equal, the authority will use the following inter-se merit procedure to resolve the ties:

 

  • Tie-breaker 1 – Aspirants securing higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the test will be allotted better rank
  • Tie-breaker 2 – If the tie still exists, the marks obtained in Chemistry will be considered. Aspirants with higher marks in Chemistry will be given better merit position
  • Tie-breaker 3 – If the tie does not break, then candidates with less number of wrong attempts will be provided higher rank in NEET merit list 2018
  • Tie-breaker 4 – If the tie still persists, then age of candidate will be preferred. Aspirants older in age will be given better rank

 

NEET UG Merit List 2018 – State rank for 85% Quota seats

 

Besides All India Quota NEET merit list, the remaining 85% state quota seats will be allotted by the concerned state counselling authority in government as well as private medical and dental colleges. Every state government will release NEET state merit list on the basis of scores obtained in the exam. Along with the scores secured in the test, NEET 2018 merit list for state quota seats will be prepared as per the reservation criteria and state eligibility conditions. However, it is mandatory to secure the minimum qualifying marks in NEET 2018.

 

How is NEET 2018 Merit List for State Quota seats prepared?

 

  • Firstly, CBSE will prepare the NEET merit list for all qualified candidates
  • CBSE will later forward NEET 2018 result to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India
  • DGHS will provide NEET result all the respective state as per the domicile of candidates
  • Each state has different eligibility norms and reservation criteria
  • After implying state rules, the state merit list will be prepared
  • The state authority will organize the counselling for 85% state quota seats and the counselling for 15% All India Quota seats will be conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) 

 

What after NEET 2018 Merit List is published?

 

After the declaration of NEET UG merit list 2018 for 15% AIQ, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will organize the counselling process for completion of admission. NEET 2018 Counselling will commence from 12 June, in online mode. NEET counselling will be conducted in two rounds only. Candidates who will secure the minimum qualifying marks will be eligible to appear for NEET counselling 2018. To participate in NEET 15% All India Quota counselling, aspirants need to register themselves. While registering, candidates have to provide their preferences of colleges as well as courses. After the registration process, the seat allotment result of round 1 will be released. The allotment will be done on the basis of rank, preferences submitted and seats available. Once the result is announced, candidates need to report at the allotted colleges for document verification and completion of admission process. After the process of first round is over, the authority will conduct the second round of NEET counselling.
