With exams for school students are just around the corner, CBSE has release the much awaited guidelines for English subject for class 9 & 10 for all affiliated schools. The guidelines state that the summative assessment of listening and speaking will account for 20 marks for class 9 & 10 marks for class 10. The total distribution of marks for English for class 9 will be 70+20= 90 and for Class 10 will be 80+10=90 including summative assessment one and two.

CBSE releases guidelines for English Scores in Class 9 & 10The schools will have to provide the board with the marks that the students have scored in ASL in both SA I and SA II electronically for both the classes. The better marks out of the two will be uploaded by the schools as marks. The method of uploading the marks remains same.

SICA principal Madhukar Pawar said, "English is an international language now and this will help students in both providing them better efficacy in the language and scoring good grades."

The board has asked to also provide an audio recording of the speaking test conducted by the school for classes 9  and 11 along with the soft copy of the award list of speaking and listening test after February 20, 2014, the CDs of which may be sent to respective regional offices of CBSE. There should be separate CDs for classes 9 and 11 clear making of the school code and name of the schools and total number of students assessed.
