About Indian Council of Agricultural Research

The ICAR is formerly known as Imperial Council of Agricultural Research, it was established on 16 July 1929 as a registered society in pursuance of the report of the Royal Commission on Agriculture. The ICAR has its headquarters at New Delhi. The ICAR has initiated for leading Green Revolution and subsequent developments in agriculture in India through its research and technology development.

ICAR 2017 UG Exam

  • This is the 22nd All India Entrance Examination for Admission (AIEEA UG 2017) for admission to 15% seats in Agriculture Universities in Bachelor Degree programmes and 100% seats in NDRI Karnal, RLB CAU Jhansi and DR.RP CAU PUSA
  • ICAR PG Exam is for filling 25% seats in Agricultural Universities and 100% in ICAR Deemed to be Universities in the academic session 2017.ICAR Deemed to be Universities are

    • IVRI-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh
    • IARI- Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi

  • ICAR’s 22nd AIEEA-UG-2017 examination for the academic session 2017 will be conducted at 47 examination city centres spread all over the country.
  • ICAR Score for admission into various undergraduate & post graduate courses will be accepted by:
    • 59 State Agricultural, Veterinary, Horticulture and Fishery universities. (Colleges accepting ICAR Score)
    • 1 Central Agriculture University, Imphal
    • 5 ICAR Deemed Universities (given above)
    • 4 Central University having agriculture faculty ( BHU, AMU (for PG only), Vishwa Bharti & Nagaland University)

ICAR Entrance Exam Eligibility criteria

  • Nationality: Must be an Indian National.
  • Age: Not less than 16 years as on 31 August 2017.
  • Academic Qualification
    • Candidate must have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education or any other examination within scope and standard found to be equivalent to the Senior Secondary Examination of an Indian Board/ University after a period of 12 years of study with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Agriculture/Home Science
    • The should have passed 10+2 examination with the subjects required as per the course with minimum 50% marks in aggregate for General, OBC (NCL) and UPS categories. However, for the candidates belonging to the  SC/ ST/ PC category need 40% marks in aggregate.
    • Candidates appearing in class 12 or equivalent examination are also eligible to apply for the admission in Agricultural colleges in India for UG programme.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 50% marks in aggregate for General, OBC and UPS categories and 40% marks in aggregate for SC, ST and PC categories as per the subjects required for the particular course. The course wise requirement of the subjects is given in the table below.
  • Universities situated in the Non-Hindi Speaking States: The candidates seeking admission in the universities specifically located in the non-Hindi speaking areas must have passed English as a core subject in 10+2 examination.

ICAR Entrance Exam Application form and Admit Card

The application process for the ICAR AIEEA has started from 20 April 2017. Candidates appearing in the ICAR Exam has to apply in OLINEmode only. The application form has to be filled online only. The link to apply online for AIEEA is given below. Candidates advised keeping yourself updated on the website of mota chashma. The last date for the submission of the ICAR Application form is 6 May 2017 (6:00 PM).

  • The candidate has to visit the official website and click the option of filling online application AIEEA UG-2017 (Link is given below).
  • The candidate can download the prospectus and then fill his/her form online.
  • Candidate can either opt for making fee payment through Bank Challan of SBBJ or through Credit / Debit card using Payment Gateway.

  • The last date to apply for the ICAR Exam has been extended from 4 May 2017 to 6 May 2017 till 6:00 PM, Candidates can apply via ICAR Application Form.

  • ICAR 2017 Exam date for 22nd ICAR AIEEA 2017 has been rescheduled to 10 June for UG Courses and 11 June for PG courses. (Read ICAR News)


Payment of ICAR 2017 AIEEA Application Form

The candidates can make the payment of the ICAR AIEEA Application Form by any of the payment method given below. The candidates should know that the payment of the application fee should be done only once

  • Through Debit or Credit Card: The first option to pay the ICAR AIEEA application fee is through Debit Card or Credit Card.
  • Through Net Banking using payment gateway of Canara Bank: The another option to pay the ICAR AIEEA UG Application fee is to pay the fee through Net Banking through the payment gateway of Canara Bank.

Submission of ICAR AIEEA 2017 Application Form

Candidates are advised to check the details of the application form before the final submission because once the application gets processed then the candidates will not be able to do any changes. The candidates are also advised to keep at least two printouts of the application form with them for future reference.

The computer generated confirmation page of the online application and the proof of fee payment should be attached and the hard copy should be sent through Speed/ Registered post only at the following address on or before 15 May 2017.

ICAR 2017 Admit Card

Admit Card will be available on the official website only for those eligible candidates who have submitted their duly filled application forms before the due date. The candidates should know that the admit card will not be dispatched through the post to the candidates, so no correspondence in this regard will be considered.   

Admit Card is an important document to be carried at the exam centre. Therefore, in the case of any problem related to admit card, the candidates are advised to contact. The Nodal Officer of the respective Examination City Centre, two days before the scheduled Examination Date.

ICAR Entrance Exam Result and Counselling

The result of ICAR AIEEA 2017 is expected to be declared by 30 June  2017 on the official website of ICAR. After the result get declared the website will also release the scorecard. The seats will be offered to the candidates on the basis of merit obtained by the candidates in UG and PG All India Entrance examination.

ICAR 2017 Selection Process

The candidate is allowed to take admission in a specific programme at an Agricultural University as per his/her choice and availability of seat at that merit-rank through a process of counselling

ICAR 2017 Counselling Registration Fee: Rs 2000 

Candidate will be recommended for admission in the subject/degree programme of choice in the Agricultural Universities on the basis of merit in the Entrance Examination and availability of seats at his/her merit-rank during counselling. ICAR Counselling 2017

ICAR Entrance Exam Exam pattern

ICAR Exam Question paper for the examination shall be bilingual, i.e., in ENGLISH and HINDI. The important points related to question paper pattern is given below.

  • Mode of Exam- Pen and Paper based Exam
  • It will have 180 multiple choice objective type questions i.e.
  • Questions will have four options each. The students have to answer the question with black/blue ball point pen.
  • Each correctly answered question will earn four marks with a maximum of 720 marks for the paper.
  • There is a negative marking of one mark for each incorrect answer or questions with multiple answers.

National Talent Scholarships (NTS) are awarded based on the AIEEA-UG examination to all those candidates who take admission outside their state of domicile. There is a nomination for admission to any Bachelor degree programme mentioned above,  there is no provision for the direct nomination, so the person has to qualify this examination.
