We have given the ranking of Top engineering colleges in India as per India Today & Nielsen Survey which was conducted from February 2015 to June 2015, and the final ranking was available in July 2015 so that students could get some help in deciding which college to opt in.

IIT Bombay & IIT Delhi are not in the Top Engineering Colleges list as the survey has dropped colleges from ranking which failed to provide the factual data for determining the ranking.The Ranking given above is only indicative, and students should keep in mind other factors as well in deciding the college.

IITs & NITs are the Government funded institutes and are also considered the Topmost engineering colleges in India. NIT Seats and Fee Structure

The National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are a group of public engineering colleges of India. When they were established, they were referred to as Regional Engineering Colleges (RECs) and were governed by their respective state governments. During 2007, the Indian government declared these colleges as Institute of National Importance. The NITs offer degree ranging from B. Tech to PhD. All NITs are set up independent institutes which enable them to set up their curriculum. The NIT's have a common admission process for undergraduate admissions known as JEE Main. There are 31 NIT's located across the Nation.

As per NIT Council Decision Tuition Fee for all NITs has been revised to Rs. 1,25,000 from the academic year 2016-17. Until last year the tuition fees was Rs. 70,000 per annum, However, other components may vary across all NITs. This increase in the tuition fees is subject to the following safeguards for protecting the socially and economically backward classes:

• The SC/ST/ PH students shall get the complete fee waiver.
• The most economically backward students whose family income is less than Rs 1 lakh per annum shall get full remission of the fee.
• The other economically backward students whose annual family income is between  Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh shall get remission of 2/3rd of the fee.

The revised fee would be applicable for students taking admission started from academic-year 2016 - 2017 onwards. The students who are currently studying in IITs got admitted before academic session 2016 - 2017 would continue to pay the existing rates.

Kindly Note: As per the official Brochure of 2013 released by CSAB, total numbers of seats offered are given below. But, Out of the total Seats offered, 50% seats are under Home State Quota.
