About Post Matric Scholarship Scheme

Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme was formed to provide equal opportunity to the minority groups in the country carried out by Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA), established to provide financial aid to students who belong to the minority community and from economically backward families. The last date of application form submission for Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme has been extended.  Earlier, the deadline for submitting the application form was 31 August 2017 which has been now been extended up to 30 September 2017

  • Candidate's Adhar Card Number is Compulsory for the registration to Post- Matric Scholarship.
  • Post Matric Scholarship is one of the scholarships under MOMA Scholarships.
  • Post Matric Scholarship scheme is Central Sector scheme with 100% central funding and is implemented by the State Government, UT Administration.
  • The post-matric scholarship scheme had started from the year 2007-08. The ministry will provide financial aid to the students from Class 11 (studying in government or private schools)  up to PhD level.
  • For 2017-18 session, the application process is now open from 1 June 2017 and will end on 30 September 2017.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Eligibility Criteria

Gender Both
Region India
Class/ Age Class 11 & 12, UG, PG, M.Phil, Ph.D, Diploma Students
  • The income of parents from all sources must not exceed INR of 2,00,000.
  • The scheme covers those students who have secured at least a 50% marks in the previous examination. 
  • The student must be from the notified minority community in India that is Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis)

Students not eligible for Post Matric MOMA Scholarship

  • Student availing some other scholarship from other sources for the same purpose.
  • Not more than two members of same family is entitled to the scholarship.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Reward

The Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme 2017 will cover the full tuition fee of the course and that would directly be credited to the bank account of the school/college/ university/institution. The maintenance allowance will be given for only 10 months in an academic year and will directly be credited to the student's bank account. As for the renewals, there is no target for them. Following are the rewards received by students under this scheme.

* Hostellers include students who are not staying in hostel of the school/institute concerned but are staying as paying guest or in rented accommodation in towns/cities which are not the places where their parents reside.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Application form and Process

The post-matric scholarship scheme has been announced by the state government through daily newspapers and journals. There will be an online application for post matric scholarship scheme and no offline applications would be accepted. Candidates will have to compulsorily fill their Aadhar Number while registering for this scholarship. 

The deadline to submit the application form for MOMA Post Matric Scholarship has been extended. Earlier, the deadline for submitting the form was 31 August 2017 which has now been extended up to 30 September 2017.

MOMA Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Renewal 2017

  • Post Matric Scholarship Scheme has to be renewed annually. The scholarship will only be renewed given that students secure minimum 50% in the previous examination.
  • The last date for renewal of post matric scholarship is October 2017

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme Selection Process

The distribution of the scholarship in a state/UT will be made on the basis of the population in state/UT according to Census 2001. The selection will be made strictly on the merit basis.

MOMA Scholarship Reservation 2017

  • Reservation for girls: 30% of the scholarship will be made available to girl students, and if in case the required number of eligible girls are not available then the balance scholarships may be distributed to boy candidates. 
  • Preference: Students of BPL families will be given preference, the student with the lowest annual family income will be given importance followed by others.
  • After the scholarships are sanctioned the state/UT will publish the details of the selected students on the website of state/government/UT concerned.
