JSTSE - Junior Science Talent Search Examination (JSTSE) is a science talent search exam for students of Class 9 studying in Delhi. JSTSE 2018-19 is conducted by Science Branch of Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi. Students enrolled in class 9 in any of the recognized schools in Govt. /Govt. aided/ NDMC/Public/KV/Navodaya of Delhi are eligible to take part in the Junior Science Talent Search Examination 2018-19.

In the year 2016-17, a total of 17633 students were allotted Roll Numbers for appearing in the JSTSE exam from 617 schools in Delhi.

  • JSTSE Exam Date: The exam will be conducted in January 2019 and the students would be tested on their knowledge & skills in General Knowledge, General Science & Mathematics.
  • JSTSE is organized at the state level and total 150 scholarships are offered to the shortlisted candidates.

JSTSE Eligibility Criteria

Class/ Age  Class 9
  •  Any student at a recognised school in Delhi studying in class 9 in Govt. /Govt. aided/ Public/ KV/ Navodaya/ NDMC, who has scored a minimum of 65% in class 8 in the academic year of 2017-2018.
  • SC/ST/PH students who have secured 65% marks in class 8 in the academic year of 2017-2018 are eligible for the JSTSE.
  • There are no limit or eligibility criteria as far as the Annual Income of the family is concerned.

JSTSE Reward

Total 150 scholarships and certificate by the Directorate of Education, NCT of Delhi will be given under the JSTSE 2018-19.

JSTSE Scholarship Amount

In the notification that is released by the Science branch office of Govt. of Delhi, the JSTSE scholarship amount is not mentioned. The notification only states the number of scholarships and not the scholarship amount.

JSTSE Application form and Process

Students can apply for the JSTSE 2018-19  through their respective schools. There is no individual application procedure. The application of JSTSE is open for around 15 days. No Examination Fee will be charged to the applicant and the application form has to be sent in triplicate to the exam conducting authority.

Submission Guidelines of Application Form for JSTSE 2018-19

  • Head of the Schools will get the Application -cum-Admit Card filled by the students in triplicate and fill the Performa A' in triplicate.
  • Three copies of Receipt of JSTS Application Performa duly filled & attested by HOS (Head of School) should be submitted to the Science Branch office between 10 AM to 3 PM on working days.
  • Applications sent by post will not be accepted in any case.
  • Attested copy of caste/PH certificate (if any) should be attached with the application form at the time of submission.

JSTSE Admit Card 2018-19

JSTSE Admit Card will be issued by the respective school of the candidate from in the first week of January 2019.  Applicants have to bring in the JTSE Admit card (signed by the Principal) to the examination hall on the date of exam. Roll number will be allotted to the students by Science Branch and will be sent to the schools by post.

The Roll Number for JSTSE Exam has to be collected by the head of schools (HOS). The students should contact the HOS for their roll number for JSTSE 

JSTSE Selection Process

Candidates will be selected on the basis of marks secured in the examination for Junior Science Talent Scholarship Exam 2018-19. The details about JSTSE scholarship exam is as follows

  • Total Marks -  200
  • Mode of Exam - Pen and Paper Based
  • Total Number of Questions - 200
  • Duration of the exam - 3 hours

The candidates have to mark the answer in the JSTSE OMR sheet as per the instructions of the exam. The candidates who are appearing for JSTSE exam must carry BLUE/BLACK Ball Point Pen for marking the OMR Answer Sheets.

School Stamp on the answer sheet: The candidates must ensure that the stamp of their school has been put on every answer sheet and all other Performa before sending them to Science Branch through the observer.
