Delhi University Counselling to go Online for this admission session. The authorities made a proposal of online counselling from this academic session before its admission committee, as it will help to make a centralised admission procedure. This system will be designed such that the software will allow the applicants to select 10 centres on the basis of their cutoffs and other preferences. On the basis of this information, the software will lead the candidates to the colleges that they will be able to apply. The online procedure will take several rounds to get completed. The applicants will get many colleges to choose from based on their eligibility.

According to the members of the admission committee, this is done to trim the long process of admission. These long processes are often caused by such unrealistic cutoffs which create a problem for the students as well as for the authority. So for this purpose, the committee has formed a sub-committee which will frame a policy on online counselling.

The other members of the committee also added that the online procedure which will have several rounds, it will help and encourage the candidates to select the maximum options which will be available there. "The software will save precious time of applicants, a lot of time is lost as students are unsure of their choices and have to run from one college to another," the proposal on online counselling suggested.
Instead of all these positive responses some members of the Delhi University’s admissions committee also said that this system was not feasible. The students and the committee will not be benefitted by this system and at last, it will be a failed attempt. They also clarified their reasons for it. According to them, the main reasons were poor internet connectivity, lack of internet knowledge among the students and poor infrastructure of the University.
DU to announce 2018 Admission Guidelines by January End
Another member of the committee said that the Indraprastha University also follows similar online admission process. He further added that the proposal is new and fresh but the authority should give it a try and work on it. This can only be done if the committee that is formed for it will give them a concrete plan.
