Once again North Eastern region should feel proud as NPS International School of Guwahati has grab the First Position in the CBSE National Level Film making Contest which was organized by CBSE. The results of the Film Making contest were declared on Monday, July 20, 2015 in Delhi.

CBSE Film making Contest 2015

The theme of the film making contest was "Marvels of Northeast India". All Schools affiliated Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) across the country were invited to participate. Total 290 applications were received, out of which 30 were shortlisted. Main motto behind the launch of the contest was to generate awareness among students regarding the culture and traditions of people in the northeastern region

Showcasing the marvels of the northeast, NPS students elaborated on the bamboo craft of Assam through their film “Assam Bamboo Craft”

Nikita Basumatary, a Class 12 commerce student was the one who directed the film and was appreciated for her camera work. Aakangsha Das wrote the script, while it was edited by Parishma Saikia.

The team will be felicitated with a trophy, a certificate and a cash award of Rs.10,000.

The documentary has also been sent to the 5th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2015 in Delhi and the school won awards in two categories -- best documentary and best cinematography. It was also sent to the 4th Bangalore Short International Film Festival 2015, where it won the best film award. The film will also be show cased at the Indian Cine Film Festival 2015 and the Kolkata International Film Festival 2015.

On Monday the shortlisted movies were showcased one after the other in front of journalist-cartoonist Barthav Bora and CBSE education officer Sandeep Seith. The students involved with the production of the film were asked questions by panel of judges
