About HSEE

HSEE 2021 - IIT Madras will release the result of HSEE 2021. HSEE 2021 (Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination) was conducted on 7 August for admission to integrated development studies and  English studies. The link to download the HSEE result 2021 has been provided on this page. Only qualified candidates can download the HSEE offer letter 2021. The common merit list of the qualified candidates securing at least 50% will be prepared on the basis of HSEE scores. HSEE is the basis for admission to 46 seats offered by IIT Madras under two streams. However, these two streams will be allocated after the completion of the first two years. HSEE 2021 is for admission into the two following courses, The first two years of the curriculum are common to all students, after which they branch out into one of the two streams

  • Integrated M.A. in Development Studies
  • Integrated M.A. in English Studies 
  • Total Number of Seats: 46 (23 seats in each stream)

HSEE Eligibility criteria

Age: The candidate must be born on or after 1 October 1993 while the candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PD category born on or after 1 October 1988 can apply.

Qualifying Examination

Candidates applying for HSEE 2018 should have either completed or should be appearing in 2018 in any one of the following Qualifying Examinations (QE):

  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognised Central / State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi; etc.
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognised Board/ University.
  • Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National
    Defence Academy.
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.
  • Any Public School/ Board / University Examination in India or in any foreign country
    recognised by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.
  • Higher Secondary Course (H.S.C.) Vocational Examination.
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

Physical Fitness: Every qualified candidate will have to submit a Physical Fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner in the prescribed format that will be made available along with the letter of offer of admission

Minimum Qualifying Marks:

SC, ST & PD Minimum of 55% marks in aggregate in QE

 
If any Board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent marks, and submit it at the time of joining.

HSEE Application Form

The steps to fill the HSEE Application Form is given below. The candidates are suggested to go through the steps provided below so that the candidates can escape the mistakes while filling the form.

A candidate has to give 2 choices for exam centre. Request from a candidate for a change of city/town allotted to him/her will NOT be entertained under any circumstances. There are 14 exam centres for HSEE Exam Centres.

Submission of the Application Form

The candidates have to submit the application form ONLINE only, along with the scanned photograph, signature, copies of relevant certificates and payment details of examination fee through online modes on or before the due date.

HSEE Admit Card 2018

HSEE Admit Card is available to download from the official website and through the link given below. The admit card will not be sent through the post to any of the candidates. Hence, it can only be downloaded from online. It is a compulsory document to be carried on the day of the exam.

HSEE Fees

HSEE Application Fees are different as per the categories. Hence, the candidates belonging to the respective categories must pay their application fee accordingly. The fee has to be paid either through online mode or offline mode that is Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking/Bank Challan.

Additionally, the service charges of the Bank will be Rs.40.The examination fee is non-refundable.

The examination fee can be paid via either of the two following modes:

  • Mode 1: Online: Net Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card
  • Mode 2: Offline:  Through the Indian Bank Challan generated during the process of application.

IIT Madras Fee Structure for Integrated MA

The candidates admitted through HSEE 2018 will have to pay the following fees at the time of admission. All fees are subject to vary time to time.

Note: The candidates also have to pay mess advance of Rs.15,900 for 6 months. SC/ST/PwD candidates are exempted from payment of tuition fees of Rs.3,000 in every semester irrespective of the parental income.

HSEE Result and Counselling

  • The ranks/ scores or the HSEE Results of the candidates has been declared on 15 May 2018

  • RE-GRADING AND RE-TOTALLINGSince the examination is administered through computers, there is no scope for re-grading and re-totalling.

HSEE Rank List 2018

  • HSEE 2018 Rank list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in HSEE  2018. A common rank list made up of candidates who score at least 50% in HSEE 2018 will be prepared.
  • Separate rank lists will be prepared corresponding to OBC (NCL), SC, ST and PwD categories.
  • Candidates of OBC (NCL) category must score at least 45% in HSEE 2018 examination to be in the OBC rank list.
  • The candidates belong to SC and ST categories must score at least 25% in the HSEE 2018, to be in their respective rank lists.
  • A Common Rank List (CRL) will be prepared for PwD candidates. The PwD candidates must score 25% to be in the rank list.

Seat Allocation

  • Allocations of seats to individual streams will be made based on the academic performance of students (CGPA) during the first three semesters, students' preferences, and availability of seats under each discipline.

HSEE Exam pattern

  • Duration: 3 hours duration (10:00 am to 13:00 pm)
  • The language of Question Paper: English
  • The HSEE 2018 has two parts.

Part I (Computer Based Test) will involve following.

  • Part I consists of objective type multiple choice questions for 2½ hours duration
    (150 Minutes) administered through computer.
