About KVPY

KVPY 2021 - The application process for KVPY 2021 has started on 12 July 2021 as per the official website of KVPY. The candidates can apply ONLINE only for KVPY 2021 by following the application page link available on this page. On 11 May, Technology Day of India, the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) notification was released on various regional and national newspapers regarding KVPY Eligibility Criteria. Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is one of the most prestigious scholarships of the nation for Basic Science students in Class 11, 12 and Bachelor’s first year. Students applying for KVPY 2021 must make sure that they are aware of Stream SA, SX, and SB eligibility criteria. KVPY 2021 - Important Points

Some important points regarding KVPY 2021 are provided below so that students can get a better understanding of the scholarship - 

  • KVPY Aptitude Exam can be taken by students studying in class 11, 12 or first year of any undergraduate program in Basic Sciences, B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • KVPY 2021 Exam will be held on 7 November 2021
  • Students who are selected under the KVPY programme are entitled to receive the monthly fellowship and annual contingency grants up to Pre-Ph.D. level.
  • In the case of class 11 and 12 students, this fellowship is only activated if they join the basic science course after class 12.
  • The KVPY aptitude test is conducted in both Hindi and English Languages.

What is new in KVPY 2021

OCI/PIO students are allowed to appear in KVPY 2021 as per the Order (Final Order awaited) of the Hon'ble High Court of Karnataka.

KVPY Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for KVPY 2021, students must make sure that they fulfil the eligibility norms. Also, the KVPY eligibility criteria will be different for various streams. Failing to meet any of KVPY eligibility norms will lead to disqualification of candidates at any point before the announcement of the result. Students preparing for KVPY 2021 must make sure that they fulfil the KVPY eligibility criteria before applying. There are 3 categories in which the KVPY exam is conducted – SA, SX, and SB. The eligibility criteria for KVPY 2021 for all the three streams are mentioned below:

KVPY Eligibility for Stream SA – Class 11th Students

  • Students must be enrolled in Class 11th (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2021-22
  • As a one-time measure, students who have passed the class 10 Board Examination and are eligible to enrol in Class 11 (Science subjects) during the academic year 2021-22, are eligible to appear for the Aptitude test. There is no requirement of 75% marks (65% for SC/ST/PWD)  in class 10 for this year.
  • They must have secured a minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate in Science subjects in the Class 12th Board Exam.
  • They should join an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./ B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./ Int. M.Sc./M.S.) after class 12th in 2023-24

KVPY Eligibility for Stream SX – Class 12th Students

  • Students must be enrolled in Class 12th (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2021-22
  • The students must have secured a minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in aggregate in Science and Mathematics subjects (Physics/Chemistry/Biology) in the Class 12th Board Exam.
  •  They should join an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./ B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S.) after class 12th in 2022-23

KVPY Eligibility for Stream SB – 1st-year Students

  • Students must have enrolled in the 1st year of the undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S.) during the academic year 2021-22.
  • As a one-time measure, students who have passed  XII Standard Board Examination and are eligible to enrol in the 1st year B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S.
  • They must secure a minimum of 60% marks ((50% for SC/ST/PWD) in the 1st year final examination of B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat./Int. M.Sc./M.S. before taking up the fellowship.

 Not Eligible for the KVPY 2021 Fellowship

  • Students willing to pursue/ pursuing the undergraduate course from distance education are not eligible.
  • A student pursuing B.Tech/ MBBS after class 12 are not eligible for the KVPY Fellowship.

KVPY Reward

Candidates who are selected under the programme are known as KVPY fellows. KVPY Fellows are entitled to get KVPY Reward which is monthly fellowship and annual contingency grants up to Pre-Ph.D. level. The monthly fellowship and annual grants for stream SA/SX/SB are given in the table below:

KVPY Fellows Privileges

  • Direct admission to the top institutes: The students who qualify for the KVPY Exam are granted direct admission to some of the prestigious science research institutes like Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc Bangalore) and Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research IISERs.
  • Vijyoshi Camp: Vijyoshi is an annual national science camp in India organized by KVPY in collaboration with INSPIRE programme, IISc Bangalore, and IISER-Kolkata. This camp gives an opportunity to KVPY students to meet great scholars, researchers, scientists, and mathematicians and interact with them.
  • Access to National Laboratories/ Universities: KVPY Fellow will get an Identity Card so as to have access to National Laboratories/ Universities who have agreed to extend special privileges like the library, laboratory facilities, etc. to KVPY Fellows.
  • Summer Programme: Summer Program is arranged for the KVPY Fellows for a week at the Indian Institute for Science Education and Research (IISER) – Kolkata, Pune, Bhopal, Mohali, and Trivandrum. The aim of the summer programme is to expose the Fellows to the methods of scientific research and giving them a chance to get lectures by experts, interact with scientists and learn in a research environment.
  • Fellowship Renewal: The candidates must secure a minimum of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate for KVPY fellowship renewal. To participate in Summer Camp in the first year and summer project every year is also mandatory for fellowship renewal. The academic performance along with the summer programme performance will be considered for fellowship renewal.

KVPY Application form and Process

Candidates can apply and fill the KVPY application form 2021 in online mode. The link to the KVPY Application page is available on this page. The candidates are advised to read and follow instructions while applying online for KVPY 2021.

Registration & Form Filling

  • Go to the KVPY Official Website. Register yourself by selecting the class and you will get your user id and password on your registered email id or mobile number.
  • Fill in your basic details such as Name, Date of Birth, E-mail id, the Mobile number for registration, class, gender, category, nationality etc.
  • Select 4 exam centres for the KVPY Exam 2021 in the order of preference.

Uploading Documents with KVPY application

The students applying for KVPY Application Form need to upload the following documents:

  • Scanned copy of Photograph and Signature
  • Copy of Mark Sheet/Certificate of the Qualifying Examination
  • Caste Certificate for SC/ST Students
  • Medical Certificate in case of PWD candidates

Caste certificate issued and duly signed by the competent authority (GOI) in the prescribed proforma in the case of students belonging to SC/ST. 

Medical certificate from the prescribed authority (GOI) in the case of physically and visually challenged students certifying the percentage of disability

Fee Payment

Candidates can submit the application fee online only through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking. The application fee for the KVPY Exam 2021 is:

  • General Category/OBC: Rs. 1250
  • SC/ST/PWD: Rs.625

KVPY Admit Card 2021

Candidates can download the KVPY admit card 2021 online by using their registration number. The admit card will be released in the second week of October 2021. The students must verify all the details such as the Name of the Candidate, Date and Time of the Exam, Exam Centre etc. and download the admit card. On the day of the test,  candidates are advised to carry the KVPY Admit Card 2021 along with them to the exam centre. Also, they must preserve it for future correspondence as well.

KVPY Mock Test 2021

KVPY Mock Test 2021 is available online for students appearing for the KVPY exam. IISc has released the KVPY mock test 2021 for students preparing for the exam. Candidates can take the KVPY Mock Test 2021 online only. Taking the online mock test for KVPY 2021 will help you during the exam preparation and improve your knowledge and skills. As the KVPY exam 2021 will be completely online, the KVPY mock test will give you an idea of the computer-based KVPY aptitude test. 

KVPY Selection Process

The selection is based on KVPY Aptitude Test. The candidates can take the KVPY Aptitude Test in both Hindi and English language. The candidates who qualify in the Aptitude Test are selected for the KVPY Fellowship starts. The candidates who are selected under KVPY and start the research in Basic Science are called KVPY Fellow.

Before appearing for KVPY Exam 2021, it is very important to check the Exam pattern of the exam. The table given below helps you understand the KVPY Exam Pattern for all the three streams SA/ SB/ SX.

For the Stream SA, Part 1 consists of total of 60 questions of 1 mark each and part 2 has a total of 20 questions of 2 marks each. The entire test is of 100 marks.

For the Stream SB/SX, In Part 1, there is a total of 80 questions of 1 mark each. The candidates can choose to attempt any 3 sections. In part 2, there are 40 questions of 2 marks each. KVPY Syllabus

The KVPY aptitude test aims to test the understanding and analytical ability of the student than his/her factual knowledge. The students are tested for the syllabus up to class 11/12/ 1st year of B.Sc. /B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. as applicable. However, there is no prescribed syllabus for the aptitude test. Therefore, for the convenience of aspirants, Mota Chashma has provided the list of KVPY important topics. KVPY Answer Key

KVPY 2021 Result

An extended KVPY merit list of approximately 5,000 candidates will be prepared in addition to the list of KVPY fellows. Rank certificates will be available to the candidates in the extended list. However, the candidates in the extended list are not eligible for the KVPY fellowship

The advertisement for the KVPY aptitude test appears on national dailies on Technology Day which is on 11 May, and on the second Sunday of July every year. Every year around one lakh candidates appear for the KVPY exam and candidates who qualify for the aptitude round are awarded the fellowship.
