About Charpak Internship Program

  • Charpak Research Internship Program 2017 is conducted by the French Embassy in India in salutation to the Nobel Prize-winning physicist Georges Charpak. 
  • The Charpak Scholarship is offered for three types of Programs.
  • This page gives details on Charpak Internship Program 2017.
  • Charpak Internship 2017 is offered for students who are pursuing graduate or postgraduate studies in science, economics or engineering fields and wish to attend training courses at a French laboratory during the academic break, i.e. between May and July. The student has to approach the laboratory on their own as per their research interest before applying for the scholarship.
  • The minimum duration of Charpak Internship is 2 months and maximum duration is 3 months (May-July 2017).
  • The last date to submit Charpak Research Internship Program 2017 Application Form is March 2017.The Charpak Internship 2017 Results will be declared by April 2017.

Charpak Internship Program Eligibility Criteria

Details
  • Must be an Indian national residing in India at the time of application.
  • The candidate should not be more than 30 years at the time of application.
  • Must be currently enrolled in Bachelor’s / Master’s program at an Indian institution.
  • Final year students are also eligible to apply.
  • Be in possession of an admission/acceptance letter from a French laboratory where the research internship will be carried out.
    • The duration of the internship must not be less than 2 months and must not exceed 3 months, i.e., during May-July 2017
  • Knowledge of French is an asset, but not mandatory.

Charpak Internship Program Reward

Charpak Internship awardees will get the following benefits:

  • Waiver on student visa fee: The students will receive a waiver on the student visa fee.
  • Monthly Stipend:
    • The interns will receive a monthly stipend of 310 euros per month from the Embassy for a period of 2-3 months depending on the duration of the internship.
    • Stipend from French Labs: Students may also receive a monthly stipend of minimum 436 euros per month for internship covering more than 8 weeks. Students need to discuss this directly with the Labs.
  • Medical Insurance: Charpak Internship will also cover the medical insurance of the students during their internship period.
  • Accommodation: Students will also receive assistance for finding suitable accommodation during the internship period.

Charpak Internship Program Application form and Process

Eligible students can apply for Charpak Internship in France by visiting the official website of French Embassy in India and downloading the Charpak Internship 2017 Application Form.

Guidelines to fill Charpak Research Internship application form

 

  • Download the application form. It will be in Microsoft Word format.
  • The format of the Application form should not be changed.
  • Fill the Application form using ‘Arial’ Text and Font size ‘10’.
  • Only scanned copies of the documents will be accepted. Photos of the documents will NOT be accepted.

Steps to fill Charpak Research Internship Application Form 

  • Fill the requisite personal and academic details carefully and correctly.
  • Mention the name and contact details of your HOD/Professor at your current institution in India.
  • Mention the name and contact details of the person at the host laboratory in France.
  • Proficiency in French: Also mention your level of proficiency in the French language.
  • Include a maximum 2-page statement of purpose stating your interest in the Internship. Also, mention your future career plans after the internship and why you are eligible for this Internship.
  • Save the file and take a print out of the Application Form.
  • Now affix your recent passport photo on the space provided. Put your signature and the current date at the end of the application form.
    • Save a Scanned copy the application form.

Documents to be sent with the application form

  • The first page of the passport
    • In case, your passport arrives after the deadline, attach a copy of the passport application.
  • A copy of curriculum vitae of maximum 2 pages.
  • A copy of acceptance/admission letter from the French institution/laboratory. In case you have still not received it by the deadline, attach a copy of the email correspondence with the French party.
  • Attested copy of mark sheets of Class 12, Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (also include semester-wise mark sheets).
  • French language certificate issued by Alliance Française in India or any recognised university (OR) in case French was a second language.
    • Class 10 mark sheet 
  • NOC from the Indian institution

Charpak Internship Research Application Form 2017& Submission

  • Attach the scanned copy of the application form along with all the above documents and mail it to scholarship.france@gmail.com
  • The subject of the email should comprise the name of the Program the candidates are applying for that is " Research Internship Program"
  • Keep a hard copy of the application for future reference.
  • Do NOT send a hard copy of the application form.

Charpak Internship Program Selection Process

Students applying for Charpak Internship 2017 will be selected on the basis of merit, consistency and the quality of their statement of purpose.

  • Knowledge of the French language is accepted, although it is not mandatory.
  • The Charpak Internship 2017 Results will be published on the website on April 2017.
  • The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
