Bihar Chief Minister announced a scholarship for the toppers of class 10 and class 12 on 3 December 2017 at BSEB’s “Medha Diwas." The Scholarship was finalised keeping the most important aspects and the practical details of the first president of India Dr Rajendra Prasad. The scheme was launched under the name "Desh Ratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Medha Chhatravriti" to honour him. The CM Nitish Kumar announced this scholarship and also disclosed that the scholarship can be availed from the year 2017. In the Medha Diwas, the CM also distributed prizes, laptops and Kindle e-reader to the toppers of Class 10 and 12.
- Along with the prize money offered to the toppers, the scholarship would play a vital role in the higher education of these toppers.
- Chairman Anand Kishor said, “The scholarship, which would be an addition to the prize money given to the toppers, was meant to help the students pursue higher studies.”

About Desh Ratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Medha Chhatravriti
Students of class 10 listed in the top ten will be given an amount of Rs. 1200 for two years on monthly basis for their higher secondary education. However, the students of Class 10 have to score at least 60% in Class 11 and 12 to claim the scholarship amount.
Top 5 students of class 12 will be given an amount of Rs.1500 for a definite period which would depend upon the duration of the course they are pursuing. For now, the distribution will be like - Rs.1500 per month will be given for 3 years for the graduating students, 4 years to engineering students and 5 years for medical students.

- The scholarship scheme was launched on BSEB's Medha Diwas for the meritorious students of Class 10 and 12
