Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme was launched in the year 2011 by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India for the students of Jammu and Kashmir. The Scholarship Scheme was implemented so that after passing Class 12 or equivalent examination the students can seek admission in Institutions located outside the State of J&K.

Introduction of 2 supernumeraray seats

From the year 2015 onwards, it has been decided by An Inter Ministerial Committee (IMC), of MHRD on Special Scholarship Scheme, chaired by Secretary (Higher Education) that TWO supernumerary seats will be introduced in all the Institutes or Colleges across the nation for this purpose.

In the same manner even UGC and AICTE respectively issued orders for creation of TWO Supernumerary Seats in institutions which are recognized under Section 2(f) and 12(B) and AICTE approved institutions respectively.

For the academic year 2015-16, PMMS counselling has been scheduled to be conducted from July 29, 2015 to August 2, 2015 at Jammu and Srinagar simultaneously. The students who have attended the counselling have been offered Provisional Admission Letter by the counselling officers.

All the Institutions to which such students are allotted seats through the Centralized Counseling, are hereby informed that:

  • The students have been asked to report within ONE WEEK from the date specified in the Provisional Offer Letter issued to the them.
  • All the Original documents should be verified by the institute.
  • The tuition fee, hostel fee and other incidental charges of students admitted under the scheme will be paid to the student through DBT by MHRD, Government of India, through AICTE
  • All such candidates shall submit claims for tuition fee, hostel fee and other incidental charges on AICTE Portal.

Admission to candidates on the basis of Provisional Admission Letter

Hence all the Institutions have been asked to offer admission to all such candidates to supernumerary Seats who have been issued the Provisional Admission Letter and make sure that these students DO NOT FACE any hurdle in the admission process and all necessary help and guidance is offered to them.

Number of Scholarships: 5000.

Duration of the Scholarship: The scholarship will be offered for the period of the degree course depending upon the good conduct and maintenance of minimum attendance in the institute.
