About AIPMT 2016

YES AIPMT 2016, All India Pre Medical Test is conducted on All India basis and is for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in the academic session 2016-17 and also for admission to Medical / Dental Colleges voluntarily Participating in the medical entrance exam.

  • At present 15% of the total MBBS & BDS seats in all medical and dental colleges run by the Central Government, state governments, municipal or other local authorities in India, except in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu and Kashmir are filled up by AIPMT Exam.
  • AIPMT 2016 will be held in a single stage and would be an objective type test. AIPMT is considered as the most competitive undergraduate medical entrance exam of India which is taken by around 6 lakh candidates annually for pursuing their dream of studying MBBS or BDS and becoming a doctor.

AIPMT Application Form filling has started from December 15, 2015, and ended on January 8, 2016, for those paying the application fee online and January 12, 2016, for the one who are paying offline. Candidates have to apply for AIPMT 2016 only “Online”. There is no offline application process.

AIPMT 2016 Participating States /Universities/ Colleges

Apart from 15% all India  quota seats, these states would be accepting the score of AIPMT for all seats of MBBS & BDS Courses in their respective state/ institute.These states will participate in AIPMT 2016 for admission in MBBS/BDS Course in the academic session 2016-17 against 85% state quota seats.

AIPMT 2016 Eligibility criteria

Age: The candidate should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before  December 31, 2016 (that is of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course).

Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian National

The upper age limit for appearing in AIPMT 2016 for admission to Government Medical Colleges through AIPMT 2016 is 25 years as on December 31, 2016

  • Further provided that this upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 years for the candidates of ST/SC/OBC.
  •  SC/ST/OBC Category- The candidate should be born between  01/01/87 to 01/01/2000
  • Other Category- The candidate should be born between 01/01/92 to 01/01/2000

Academic Qualification: Candidates who have passed Class 12 Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology (which shall include a practical test in these subjects) and English as a compulsory subject.

OR

Candidates who are appearing in Class 12 Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2016.

NOTE

  • OCI-Overseas students of India may also appear in AIPMT 2016.
  • Students from the States of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and J&K are not Eligible for 15% all India quota seats as both these States had opted out of All India Scheme, AIPMT 2016
    • Candidates from these states can appear in AIPMT for admission to AFMC, Pune. 
    • If they claim eligibility, they must submit an affidavit, in original, as per proforma given in Appendix – II of the Brochure.

  • Students can fill AIPMT 2016 Application form online only. There is no option of filling the form offline. All eligible candidates should register online. Candidates are allowed to submit only one AIPMT application form.
  • After final submission of the application form, print the confirmation page of online application and send it by Registered/ Speed post with other documents to:

AIPMT Admit Card 2016

The candidates require AIPMT Admit Card for the exam scheduled to be held on May 1, 2016. Without the admit card, the student is not allowed to sit in the exam. AIPMT Admit Card 2016  will be available on April 1, 2016, for download. This is a very important document and the student will not be allowed to appear in the exam without the valid AIPMT Admit card.

AIPMT 2016 Result and Counselling

AIPMT Answer Key

CBSE will first release the AIPMT Answer key before releasing the AIPMT Result. AIPMT Answer keys will be published on the official AIPMT website from May 24, 2016, to May 26, 2016. 

The students can go through the AIPMT answer keys and if they find any discrepancy then they can challenge the answer keys in a given time period. This is done so keep the entire process transparent and fair.

AIPMT 2016 Result

  • AIPMT Result 2016  will be declared on or before June 5, 2016. Candidates will be selected through an All India merit list to be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the AIPMT 2016,  All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test.  
  • Candidates shall be admitted to MBBS / BDS courses under 15% All India Quota Seats and seats under the control of participating State Governments/Universities/Institutions from the said list only by following their Reservation Policies and other admission criteria.

AIPMT Counselling


CBSE conducts AIPMT Entrance Test, declares the result and hands over the AIPMT Merit list to DGHS, participating states, universities and institutes. The counselling for allotment of seats is held by the concerned bodies themselves and CBSE does not have any role in it.

All India counselling for 15% MBBS & BDS seats is conducted by DGHS. The responsibility of the CBSE is limited to the conduct of the entrance test, declaration of result and providing merit list to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India and participating States/Universities/Institutions.

  • The AIPMT 2016 consists of one paper
  • Total Questions: 180 objective type questions from the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology)
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Medium: The question paper will either be in English or Hindi. 
    • Candidates opting for paper in English will be provided question paper only in English Language but the candidates opting for Hindi will be provided a bilingual question paper i.e. Hindi & English.
  • The questions would be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Blue/Black Ball Point Pen only.
  • Marking Scheme: Each correct answer will get 4 marks
  • Negative Marking: For each incorrect response, there is  negative marking, that is- 1 mark for each incorrect answer.

  • In the All India Pre Medical / Dental Test 2015, the number of candidates that appeared for the exam were 3,74,386 which was 28% lesser than the figure recorded in 2014.
  • The drop in numbers was probably due to the delayed date of the exam (AIPMT had to be reconducted following concerns over paper leak / cheating).
  • Of the 3,74,386 candidates that appeared for the exam, 18,610 were placed in the AIPMT merit list and waitlist for 3,722 seats available under 15% All India quota.
