3M CII Young Innovators Challenge 2017

3M Young Innovators Challenge 2017 continues with its second generation innovators award program where they seek to find ideas and new projects from young innovators communities that can help in eliminating the social, economic, and physical challenges that India is facing. This is the 3rd edition of the challenge and it looks for solutions to challenges of sustainability.The 3M Young Innovators Challenge 2017 is conducted by 3M and CII (Confederation of Indian Industry).

The Challenge is searching for disruptive innovations to identify, encourage and recognize the ability of young people to create new solutions to challenges of sustainability. The idea can be in any of the following areas:

• Renewal energy
• Air quality
• Access and quality of water
• Building efficiency
• Safe and secure urbanization (including smart city innovations, waste management, biodiversity)
• Livelihood
• Healthcare
• Education
• Access to resources
• Housing & infrastructure

Participants from 18 to 30 years from all over India can submit any innovative idea.The candidates can also submit ideas that are at still a conceptual stage with proof of concept. The ideas and initiatives must specifically apply to the Indian context.

Winner of the challenge will be awarded the huge prize amount of Rs 2 Lacs along with felicitation and opportunities by the conducting body i.e. 3M in collaboration with CII (Confederation of Indian Industry).  The last date to register for Young Innovators Challenge award (YICA) 2017 is 30 May 2017.

Recognition:

• Felicitation at the CII Innovation Summit in Bengaluru
• Executive Meeting with 3M Managing Director & Leadership.
• Opportunity to share the innovation with multi-stakeholders.
• Winners will be featured on Challenge website blog, 3M’s global blog spot and on a Challenge specific compendium.

The application process is online only, a maximum of three members team can apply with a single innovative idea. The participants of the Young Innovators Challenge 2017 have to apply online before the revised date that is 30 May 2017.

To participate in Young Innovators Challenge 2017, the candidates have to fill in the application form which has 20 questions where participants have to mention the following:

• Project title
• Theme 
• Issue that the innovation covers
• Basic information about participants
• Other required details regarding the innovation. 

Participants have to give the detailed version of information and can also give a link to video or doc file containing detailed aspects of your project. 

3M Young Innovators Challenge Application Submission

The candidates can participate in the 3M Young Innovators Challenge 2017 by applying with a single innovative idea. The application form has to be submitted online only. The completed online entry form has not to be sent through post email. 

The submitted Ideas/ innovations/initiatives will be judged on the basis of the following parameters:

• Innovation: The best entries will be assessed on the basis of a creative approach to a social challenge and a reliable solution that can be prototyped. The initiative(s) does not have to involve inventing something entirely new, but entries should describe how ideas are original and a newer way to implement them.
• Measurable Impact: Entries should be capable of serving a large community when brought to the line. The best projects must implement a significant way to cope up with sustainability issue and will have the potential of making a big difference technically.
• Financial Sustainability: Ideas presented should have a potential to be available for public platform soon. The strongest entries will outline how their solution can be sustained without reliance on donations and aid for investment or funds.
