About Shankar's International Children Competition

Shankar's International Children Competition 2018 is an initiative of the Children’s Book Trust (CBT) for the children around all over the world. Shankar's International Children Competition 2018 is open to the children who are born after 1 January 2002. There are total 2 categories in the Shankar's International Children Competition 2018 and that are Paintings/Drawings and Written work. The children participating in the competition are free to choose the theme or subject they are interested in. The selected candidates will be rewarded gold medal, silver medal, Shankar’s award and other prizes. The last date to submit entries is 31 October 2017.

Details
  •  The children from all over the world who are born after 1 January 2002 are eligible to participate in the Shankar's International Children Competition 2018.
  • The parents/guardian/teacher of the participating children must certify the entry as the original, unaided work of the competitor done during 2017. The participants have to prepare the entry individually; it should not be a combined work.

The best entries will also be published in Shankar’s children’s Art Number, Volume 59. The selected entries will also be entitled to appear in the monthly magazine for children, Children’s World.

Shankar's International Children Competition Application form and Process

The interested competitors can send their entry only through offline mode. Each entry must be certified by the guardian or teacher as original work. The participants have not to fill any online application form. However, each entry should carry the following information at the back of the painting or drawing or written work in English (in block letters):

  • First name/Last name (Do not give expanded names)
  • Boy or Girl
  • Date of Birth
  • Nationality
  • Full postal address
  • Email ID and mobile number
  • Subject/title of the entry

The candidates have not to pay any fee for participating in the Shankar's International Children Competition 2018.

The Criterion for Painting/Drawing:

  • The size of the drawing/painting must be at least 30 x 40 cm. A competitor can submit any number of entries.
  • The drawing/painting can be in any medium and Computer printouts or lino-cuts or batiks or scanned images will not be accepted.

The Criterion for Written Work:

  • Written work can be poems, essays, short stories, plays, descriptive writing and the like.
  • The student opt written work must write in English because entries in other languages will not be considered.
  • A candidate can submit any number of entries but they should be in neat handwriting or typed.

Submission of Application Form

After providing the details given above, the participants have to send the entries through the mail. The last date for the receipt of the Indian entries is 31 October 2017 and for foreign entries is 31 December 2017. All the entries should reach the following address:

The entries sent through cargo will not be accepted. Written entries can also be mailed in MS Word format at sicc.cbt@gmail.com

Shankar's International Children Competition Selection Process

All entries submitted by the participants will be judged by a jury which will be appointed by the organisers. The decision of the jury will be final, and the result is announced in September 2017. The participants selected for a prize will be informed the individual on their contact details.
