About RGNUL Exagium International Essay Writing Competition 2016

RGNUL Exagium is an International Essay Writing Competition 2016 being organized by Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, India.

  • RGNUL Exagium International Essay Writing Competition 2016 is organized for the undergraduates, postgraduates and research scholars across the disciplines with an objective to enhance the reading and writing skills of the students.
  • RGNUL Exagium aims at engaging the students in reading the Classics. Classics are those books which constitute experiences, thoughts and ideas of great writers. The participants will write an analytical essay on the selected classics.
  • Last date for registrations is August 31, 2016 Cash prize of Rs 6000 will be awarded to the Winner of The Best Essay.

RGNUL 2016 is a challenge to the reading, comprehensive and writing skills of the students. The essay on the selected text should focus on the thematic concerns of the writer. Using the primary and secondary sources, the participants will write an analytical essay on the selected classics from the list given below:

RGNUL Exagium International Essay Writing Competition 2016 Reward

RGNUL Exagium International Essay Writing Competition 2016 Application form and Process

RGNUL Essay Competition Application form is to be filled offline. Candidates can download the application form by following the link below and fill up the application form. However, the Registration fee has to be paid online. 

Registration fee: Registration fee is to be paid online by the participants after the successful submission of their entries. Participant’s online portal will remain active from May 25 to August 31, 2016.

Steps for online payment of registration fee:

  • STEP1: On SBI Bank Collect portal will appear on screens.
  • STEP2: Participants have to accept the terms and conditions by clicking and placing a check mark in the required field and click proceed.
  •  STEP3: Select State as Punjab as the university is located in Punjab and in Type of institution select “Educational Institutions” and click “go”.

Important note: In case the international participants face any issue while submitting the payment through online mode, they can send demand draft in favour of “Registrar, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab, payable at Patiala” and mail the scanned copy of DD on exagium2016@rgnul.ac.in

Submission of RGNUL Exagium Application Form


The duly filled application form has to be emailed and posted to the University. It is mandatory for the candidates to submit the application in both the ways :

Online submission: Participant has to submit the scanned copies of the essay, Registration form, and ID proof and has to send them on exagium2016@rgnul.ac.in before September 2, 2016.

Offline Submission: Participants has to submit the hard copies i.e. printout version of the essay, registration form and an ID proof enclosed in an envelope to the following address through registered post only before September 9, 2016.

RGNUL Exagium International Essay Writing Competition 2016 Selection Process

Rules for RGNUL Essay Writing Competition

  • The Essay must be written in English language only.
  • The Essay has to be submitted in MS-Word format. The Essay must be typewritten in 12 font size in Times New Roman with 1.5 line space.
  • Essays must be original, logical and coherent; it should not exceed more than 3000 words.
  • The essay should not be the summary of the book. Essays should discuss the major issues/themes of the text.
  • The participant has to give an appropriate title to the essay.
  • No identification marks must be found in any part of the essay.
  • The analysis of the text must be supported with proper evidence and personal response of the participant.
  • Plagiarism of any form shall result in disqualification.
  • The students of RGNUL can participate in the competition but they are not eligible for prizes, However if selected they will be awarded the certificates of merit.
