Dr. S Radhakrishnan Postdoctoral Fellowship 2016

Dr. S Radhakrishnan Postdoctoral Fellowship in Humanities and Social Sciences is offered and sponsored by University Grants Commission (UGC). The motto of this Postdoctoral Fellowship is to provide fellowships in the form of financial assistance to students who wish to carry out the advanced studies and research in Humanities and Social Sciences including languages in Indian Universities and Colleges

Every year total 200 postdoctoral fellowships are offered for all subjects and the interested candidates need to make online applications for the fellowship on the official website of University Grants Commission.The fellowship will be offered for a period of three years and the tenure cannot be further extended.

Postdoctoral Fellowship in India

At the end of every three months, the candidates are required to submit a “Continuation Certificate” duly signed by Guide and forwarded by the concerned authority. On completion of the Fellowship, the applicants have to submit to the Commission a final report (hard as well as soft copy), in about 500 words and a copy of published work, if any.

UGC Scholarship 

The financial assistance available under Dr. S Radhakrishnan Postdoctoral Fellowship in Humanities and Social Sciences is as follows:

• Release of Grant: On receipt of Joining Report of the candidate along with required documents, the UGC office would release the first installment of the admissible grant to the concerned beneficiary. Thereafter, the grant is released on receipt of the Utilization Certificate and statement of expenditure for the last grant paid.

Kindly Note: Fellowship cannot be transferred from one minority community to another

• House rent allowance: Dr. S Radhakrishnan Postdoctoral Fellowship in Humanities and Social Sciences Candidates will be provided single-seated hostel accommodation in the University/Institute/College. In case the candidates make their own arrangement, then they can withdraw the HRA by producing the required documents.
• Medical: Candidates will not be provided with any separate/fixed medical services. Candidates can make use of medical facilities available in the University/Institution/College.
• Leave: Candidates are entitled to leaves of maximum 30 days excluding the public holidays. Candidates are not entitled to any other vacations.
  • Maternity Leave: Female candidates are entitled to a maternity leave as per Government of India rules with full rates of Fellowship.
  • In special cases, the candidates are entitled to take a leave of 3 months without the full rate of Fellowship.

• Online Application Begins: Candidates need to apply online at the official website of UGC.
• Application Form:  The application form need to be filled online and personal information along with the information related to academic qualifications need to be uploaded at the time of application.
• No offline applications: The applications for the fellowship need to be made online only and there is no process for offline application.

Submission of Application 

Candidates need to complete the online application form and there is no need to send any printed document or application form to UGC by post.

The selections for the fellow will be done on the basis of academic merit prepared out of the applications received for the Fellowship and Interview of the candidates. The details of the process are as follow:

• All the applications received will be inspected, and shortlisted by the Commission.
• The selection process will be based on Merit cum Mean basis and on the norms of UGC. 
• The shortlisted candidates will be called Interview.
