Class/ Age Over 18 years of age

Professional Photographer- A person whose main source of livelihood is from photography (working in the capacity of
individual photographer or in a Photo Section, Newspapers, News agencies, Studios, teaching photography & communication or individual agencies or any form of a major source of revenue through photography) is considered to be "Professional Photographer".

Amateur Photographer- A Photographer who does photography as a hobby, for creative urge but her/his major source of
revenue should be from some other means is considered as "Amateur Photographer

National Photography Award MIB, Government of India Reward

Life Time Achievement Award: It shall be awarded to renowned photographers of the country who have made a long and outstanding contribution in the various fields of  photography at the national and international level.

Display of Winning Images

  • Winning images in all the categories of awards will be exhibited in major States in the country.
  • It would also be displayed on the official website of the Division to get worldwide promotion of the winners

Travel and Lodging to the Winners

The winners will be entitled to and fro flight tickets (economy class) and
hotel accommodation for two nights including the Awards night in accordance with Government of India rules.

The finalists must submit the original image file (digital/negative) to the Photo Division.

National Photography Award MIB, Government of India Application form and Process

The participant has to submit the entries through e-mail and also send the print out of the photographs as mentioned in the guidelines below.

  • No changes allowed: Once the entries are sent through e-mail, they will not be permitted for any replacement / cancellation/ addition and change in any case.

Guidelines for sending the Photograph

  • File Size of the Image: Each Image should be less than 2 MB size
  • Format of the Image: Image should be in JPG/JPEG
  • Print out of the Images: Soft images should be supplemented with the hard copies in 8”x 10”.
  • Please add the following information with the pictures 
    • Camera used 
    • Lens Focal Length
    • Aperture 
    • Shutter Speed 
    • ISO Setting 
    • Place 
  • Application Fees: There is no application fee.
  • No. of Entries that can be sent by the Photographers.
    • Professional Photographers: 15
    • Amateur Photographers: 10
  • Personal Information: Entry should not contain personally identifiable information about the participant or any other person.
  • Picture should have been taken during the last two years time ending from the date
    of commencement of the contest for the subject.
  • Third Party: Entry should not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, contract rights, or any other intellectual property owned by the third party.
  • No commercial content: Entries should not contain any commercial content that promotes any product or service
  • Only fresh & unpublished pictures would be considered for professional photographers.
  • Only fresh pictures would be considered for amateur photographers.

Submission of the Application Form

Submit Entries through e-mail

The participant must submit the entries to E-Mail ID: photoawards-moib@nic.in  or photodiv@nic.in with a subject line “6th National Photography Awards” and category (Professional or Amateur) 

Sending the Entries by post

  • After the participant has sent the photographs through e-mail they also need to send their images along with registration form and declaration (Schedule-I) to the mentioned address.
  • Registration Form: Click here to download the Registration Form.
  • Declaration Form: Fill the Schedule 1 that is the Declaration in terms of Guidelines. Schedule 1 is a part of the guidelines of the competition.

National Photography Award MIB, Government of India Selection Process

6th National Photography Award Selection will consist of the Selection Committee comprising of a Chairman and not more than five members distinguished in the field of Photography or allied arts duly constituted by the Ministry of I&B, Government of India would be judging all the submitted entries.

The quorum for the deliberations of the Committee shall be at least 50% of the
members of the Committee including the Chairman.
