About Motorola Scholar Program

  • Motorola Scholar Program 2016-17 is being organized by Foundation for Advancement of Education and Research (FAER) and is being funded by Motorola Solutions Foundation.
  • The applicants should be a final year student of B.E. or M.C.A from any recognized University, Institution or College.
  • The objective of the Motorola Scholar Program 2016 is to ignite the spark of creativity among the students of engineering institutions fromsub-urban and rural areas of the country and challenge them to take up projects related to the following :
    • Rural Areas
    • Rural Communications
    • Agricultural Information Systems
    • Information Flows
    • E-Governance
    • Resource Utilization
    • Ecology and Rural Areas
    • Watershed Development
    • Use of Ad Hoc Networks
    • Renewable Sources and Utilization
    • Rural Planning etc.
  • Depending upon the potential and other parameters related to the proposal, FAER will shortlist some proposal and the selected teams will have to complete the project within 3 months and submit a detailed project report to FAER.

Motorola Scholar Program Eligibility Criteria

Details
  • Nationality: The applicant should be a national of India.
  • Academic Qualification: The application for the Scholar Program can be made only by B.E./M.C.A. Students.
  • Participation: Participation to Motorola Scholar Program is by the means of Team only.
    • A team can have maximum 4 members

Motorola Scholar Program Reward

The Motorola Scholar Program 2016-17 will not only award the member of the winning teams but will also rewards the Project guide. The details of the rewards are as follow:

  • First Prize: The Team winning the First prize will get cash prize worth Rs. 75,000. Out of the total amount Rs. 60,000 will be for the Students Team     & Rs. 15000 will be for the Project Guide.
  • Second Prize: The total worth of Second prize will be Rs. 50,000 out of which Rs. 10,000 will be for the Project Guide while remaining Rs. 40,000 will be for the Students of the team.
  • Third Prize: The team winning the Third prize will be eligible for the cash prize of Rs. 30,000. It will have Rs. 6,000 for the Project guide and Rs. 24,000 for the team members.
  • Special Prize: The winner of the special prize will get Rs. 25,000 for the Student Team.

Motorola Scholar Program Application form and Process

The teams interested to take part in the Motorola Scholar Program 2016 should send their proposals to the concerned authorities. The details of the application process are as follow:

  • Proposal Form: Every team should submit a Proposal giving details about the team and the project which they’ll be undertaking.
  • Filling the Proposal Form: The candidates are required to fill in the details of the team member, institution, their project, their project guide etc. in order to complete the application form.
    • The Proposal form needs to be signed by the Project Guide and Head of the Department or Institution ensuring that the students will be provided with required Computer/Laboratory support to the candidates.
  • Details of the Proposal: The project selected by the team should be related to any of the given sub-topics:
    • Computer Science and Information Technology
    • Communications technologies and concepts (digital, optical, wireless, satellite etc.)
    • Power and Energy Systems
    • Signal Processing
    • Applications
    • Innovative applications of systems for problems related to rural areas and disadvantaged people - health, education, renewable energy, labor-saving technologies, rural technologies, etc.

Motorola Scholar Program Selection Process

The selection of the proposal will be done by Foundation for Advancement of Education and Research (FAER) and it will have 2 stages as described below:

  • Stage 1- Shortlisting of Proposals: FAER will receive project proposals from students in engineering colleges, screen them with the help of experts and select projects for funding. An amount up to a maximum of Rs. 5,000/- will be reimbursed to each project team after completion of their project. The evaluation of the submitted proposals will be on the following basis:
    • Relevance to our focused areas
    • Originality / innovation / novelty
    • Technical strength
    • Utility / applicability
    • Feasibility
    • Methodology and approach including implementation
    • Analytical capabilities.
  • Stage 2- Evaluation of completed Projects: Selection of "Motorola Scholars" based on the evaluation of the completed projects through a Seminar-cum-Exhibition and best projects will be awarded Cash Prize and Certificates in Motorola Scholar Awards Presentation Function.
    • There will be a special award for students from disadvantaged sections.
