About ITU Young Innovators Single Board Challenge

  • INTEL and ITU Telecom World is aimed at young innovative entrepreneurs using technology creatively to bring about social change and present solution to some of the budding problems of our society.
    • Technology to be used: Apply single board computers and controllers
  • Interested candidates can use available tools such as Intel Edison and Intel Galileo, integrate then in the wearables, embedded devices, Internet of Things solutions or other applications which can help in improving the lives of people.
  • The winners of the competition will join ITU Telecom World 2015 in Budapest, Hungary, October 12-15, 2015 to pitch their ideas, participate in workshops, benefit from a year of ongoing mentorship, and win seed funding. 
  • The ITU Young Innovators Single Board Challenge is open for all individuals who are citizen of ITU and belong to the age group of 18-30 years.
  • There is no participation fee to submit your entries and the winners will be invited to attend the ITU world event in Budapest, Hungry on October 12-15, 2015  to pitch their ideas, participate in workshops, benefit from a year of ongoing mentorship, and win seed funding.

Details
  • Nationality: The challenge is open for citizens of countries which are member of International Telecommunication Union. Thus the challenge is open for Indian citizens.
  • Age: The participantsshould belong to the age group of 18-30 years.
    • Participants can be older than 30 years but they will not be awarded with prize.
  • Mode of Participation: Individual as well as team participation is available for the challenge but only a single person will represent the team.
  • Number of Submissions: Any number of projects can be submitted by participants.

ITU Young Innovators Single Board Challenge Rewards

The winners as well as finalists will be get visibility in front of the Selection Committee and an audience of event participants. Details of other rewards available are as follow:

  • Invitation: Two winners will be invited to be a part of ITU Telecom world 2015 event being organized in Budapest, Hungary on October 12-15, 2015.
  • Cash Reward or Seed Funding: Thee winner of the Challenge will be provided with seed funding for the project. The amount of the funding will be decided by the Selection committee as per the needs expressed in the project, quality of submission and result of Presentation and Interview.
  • Special Prize: The best 5 solutions will be provided with Intel Galileo and Intel Edison units to help the winners develop their solutions.
  • Mentorship: The finalists will get a one-on-one session with experts from various sectors and the winners will get access to the network of mentors for 1 year.
  • Networking Opportunities: During the challenge participants will get chances to build relationships with top officials from various Government and Non-Governmental organizations, academia and peers.
  • Workshops: The finalists will get training sessions from experts focusing on entrepreneurship.
  • Visibility: Finalists will be evaluated by the means of their presentation in front of Selection Committee and event participants and the winning submission will be featured on the website of the program.
    • Quarterly reports and regular updates related to the project will ensure best assistance can be offered to the winners.

ITU Young Innovators Single Board Challenge Application Process

The application process of the ITU Young Innovators Single Board Challenge is online and candidates are required to register their account on crowdicity to complete the application process:

  • Mode of Application: Theapplications will be accepted online and for making the application for the challenge, participants must register and verify their account on Crowdicity. >> Click here to start the registration process.
  • Verification: Once the registration process is complete, an email containing a verification link will be sent to the registered email id. Applicants should click on that link to verify their account and complete the submission.
  • Submission: Once the verification is done, participants need to login to their account and fill in all the details related to themselves and the project in order to complete the submission. Applicants can also share any link of external source where their project or submission has been featured.

  • Evaluation Criteria: The Decision of the Selection Committee will be on the basis of the following aspects of the submission:
    • Innovativeness
    • Business Potential
    • Social Impact Potential
    • Likelihood of Success.
  • Result: The names of the winners will be announced in the ITU Telecom World Event in Budapest, Hungary on October 12-15, 2015.
