About EURIAS Postdoctoral Fellowship

EURIAS Postdoctoral Fellowship 2018-19 application process is already started on 5 May 2017. This is 10 months postdoctoral fellowship program offered by Network of European Institutes for Advanced Study (NetIAS). It will be conducted at 19 participating Institutes for Advanced Study (IAS) located in various countries in Europe. EURIAS Postdoctoral Fellowship 2018-19 will be granted to researchers in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences but may also be granted to scholars in Life and Exact Sciences if no laboratory facility is required for the same.

The fellows will also receive a living allowance of 26,000 to 38,000 Euros along with economy class return fare from applicant’s home country. Interested candidates can make online applications for The EURIAS Postdoctoral Fellowship using online application portal of The European Institutes for Advanced Study. For the year 2018-19, total 54 EURIAS Postdoctoral Fellowship are available, out of which 21 are Junior Fellowships, and 22 are Senior Fellowships.

Details
  • Age: There is no restriction on the age of the candidate.
  • Nationality: The application is open to residents of all countries. But applicants cannot apply for an Institute in their home country. 
  • Educational Qualification: The applicant must possess aPh.D. degree at the time of making application for the fellowship.
    • Only Law Scholars are eligible for making application with a Master’s Degree.
  • Work Experience: The applicant should have minimum full-time work experience as per the following criteria:
    • For Junior Fellowship: 2-9 years
    • For Senior Fellowship: minimum 10 years
    • For Law Scholars:
      • For Junior Fellowship: 6-13 years
      • For Senior Fellowship: minimum 14 years

EURIAS Postdoctoral Fellowship Reward

The fellows selected for the EURIAS Fellowship Programme 2018-19 will get the following benefits in order to stay and conduct research in the host Institute of advanced studies:

  • Living allowance: The Senior Fellows will get 38,000 Euros (approx. 27,30,000 INR) while Junior fellows will get 26,000 Euros (approx. 18,70,000 INR) as living allowance.
  • Travel Expense: Under the fellowship, the cost of a round-trip economy class airfare will be paid.
  • Other benefits:

    • Suitable Social Security coverage
    • Research Budget

EURIAS Postdoctoral Fellowship Application form and Process

EURIAS Fellowship Programme application Process is completely online and the interested candidates can visit the application portal available at the official website of The European Institutes for Advanced Study (EURIAS) in order to complete the application process.

The details associated with the application process are as follow:

  • Application Form: Before making the application, candidates need to register themselves on the official website of the EURIAS in order to access the application form. >> Click here to register.
  • Documents Required: In order to complete the application process and to help the judging panel in the evaluation of the application, the following documents must be submitted while making the application:
    • Curriculum Vitae: The CV must contain full contact details of the applicant, academic as well as professional experiences and a detailed list of publications. The total number of pages should be less than 10.
      • Size: 2 MB Maximum
      • Format: PDF
    • Research Proposal: Applicants need to submit a detailed research proposal of not more than 5 pages.
    • Recommendation: 2 letters of recommendation are required to be submitted only by the candidates applying for Junior Fellowship.
    • Publications: Candidates applying for Junior Fellowship need to submit 2 publications while 5 publications are required for Senior Fellowships.
    • Ph.D Diploma: A scanned copy of Ph.D. diploma is to be uploaded in pdf format. In case the diploma is not in Latin, the official translation of the same is required.

Submission of Application Form

After completing the online application form, candidates should review the entire document and submit it only when they are sure that there are no mistakes.

EURIAS Postdoctoral Fellowship Selection Process

The selection of the fellows will be done using merit-based process under the supervision of EURIAS selection committee and IAS Board. The details of the selection process are as follow:

  • Stage 1 Selection Process: The selection committee will consist of 16 to 18 internationally recognised researchers with specific expertise in ethics. The selection committee will finalise the names of the candidates to be forwarded to the IAS.
    • Assessment criteria: All the received applications will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:
      • Scientific excellence of the applicant
      • Quality of the research proposal
      • Relevance of an IAS residency.
  • Stage 2 - IAS Selection process: IAS will select the final candidates out of the shortlisted candidates and will inform the Programme Offices accordingly. The following assessment criteria will be used by the board:
    • Interaction with the group of prospective co-fellows
    • Relevance of the IAS choice by the applicant
    • Specific scholarly environment or relevance of interaction with local researchers
  • Result: The candidate will be notified by email in case they are preselected for the Stage 1 as well as when they are finally selected by IAS for the fellowship.
