Damodar Shree Essay Writing Competition 2017 (Shortlist Announced)

Damodar Shree essay writing competition 2017 is conducted by S.S Khanna College and the Saraswat Khatri Pathshala society. The essay competition is open to all the students who are pursuing their Graduation or Post-Graduation in any stream. Students can participate both in Hindi and in the English language for the Damodar Shree Essay writing competition 2017.

Theme of Damodar Shree Essay Writing Competition 2017

The theme of the essay is “A Beautiful Home” " a aa aaa a a "

What is a home? Is it a place to which people belong, where they feel protected, cared for safe? Is it a place they, together, make? Is it a place they, together, learn to live? Is it the domain of the mother where there is love, caring, affection, concern, dialogue? Are the market and the frontier, battlegrounds of the father? Can a home be beautiful if authority and an imposed discipline replace democratic dialogue? Is the home a place outside us or also within us? Does an exile carry a home within him? Is home freedom? Why is a prison not a home? What is a beautiful home? Is home a small bounded area? Is home a place that extends hospitality and destroys otherness? Is it that space where the mind finds silence and integrates all human findings into one harmonious whole? Is it a floor upon which the scientific and religious quest of humanity will dance in partnership? Can home expand boundlessly towards greater and yet greater vastness? Is my country my home? Is the earth my home? Or the vast infinite spaces beyond the reach of finitude and death my home.

Damodarshree Essay Competition Dates 2017

The selected candidates will be awarded prizes as under:

• All the travelling expenses (Ac 2 tier fare) & stay at Allahabad for the selected 10 candidates will be incurred by the organiser.
• Proper hospitality will be provided to the candidates who travelled to reach the destination.

The student has to write the essay and send it in soft and hard copy.

Guidelines for writing the essay

• The essay to be submitted must have a word limit of 2000 to 3000 words.
• The student has to write the essay on the theme "A Beautiful Home"
• The font style allowed for Essays in English is Times Roman style and the size should be 13.
• The font style allowed for Essays in Hindi is Krutidev 16 size.
• Content copied from the internet should be specified. In case of reproduction of the matter copied from the internet, the matter should not exceed 20% of the total content.

Fees

•  The Vice-Chancellor of all eligible University/Institute or the Directors of IIT’s or National Law Colleges, NIT’s, Central / State Medical Colleges, IIIT’s, BIT’s, IIT’s, IIM’s, XLRI can  send  a total of three entries ( with at least 1 written by women) which would be without entry fee

• The Principals of all constituent colleges/ affiliated college of a central university can also send 2 entries which would be without the entry fee.

• Fees for Other Candidates: Other candidates seeking to participate in the contest can also send the entries with a demand draft of Rs 100 as a part of the entry fees favoring  "Damodarshree Organizing Committee" payable at Allahabad.

Submission of Essay

• The essay to be submitted must have a hard and soft copy.
• The hard copies must be sent to;

• Soft copies must be submitted at to damodarshree1923@.gmail.com
• For people submitting the hard copy, the size of the paper should be A4.
• A Copy of Identity Card should also be sent along with the essay.

• Ten best entries will be selected and then the participants will be called in the premises of S.S Khanna Degree College, Allahabad where they will have to present and defend their essay on 2 October 2017.
• The candidate will be allotted 7 minutes to present the essay and 8 minutes to defend the essay when the participants will be called in the premises of S.S Khanna girls college.
• The jury will then select the candidates and the winners.
