About CBSE Expression Series

  • CBSE Expression Series 2016 is organised by CBSE in order to increase the participation of the students and overall development of students,
    • CBSE has organised CBSE Expression Series 2016 on the topic 'Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Azad' which is to be held on October 15, 2016.
  • The ‘Expression Series’ will focus not only on the contribution of great leaders of India but also on several important issues related to women, society (both rural and urban) and nation.
  • Students from class 1-12 can participate in the CBSE Expression Series 2016 and they have to write essay/poem on the topics provided by CBSE.

Latest update: CBSE Expression Series on 'Dr APJ  Abdul kalam Azad' has been announced to be held on October 15, 2016.


  • The expression series will be organised on October 15, 2016. on the spot in the premises of the school so that children’s original and natural thinking can emerge.
  • Schools would encourage their students to express their “dreams” in the following modes:
    • Slogan writing
    • Composition /Essay writing (250 words for Classes 1 to 8 and 500 words for Classes 9 to 12.)
    • Poetry writing
    • Poster/Painting
    • Skit/Drama
  • The links and Mobile App for submission of the entry by the school  shall remain activated from 09:00 hours till 24:00 hours on October 15, 2016.
  • There is no participation fee and the winners will get a cash prize of Rs. 2500 and Certificate of Merit. While Certificate of Participation will be given to every student who participates in the series.

CBSE Expression Series Eligibility Criteria

Class/ Age Class 1-12
Details
  • Nationality: The Competition is open to the nationals of India only.
  • Academic Status: The applicant must be a student of Class 1-12.
  • Original Work: The essay/poem being submitted for the CBSE Expression Series should be an original work of the participant.
  • Language: The work can be in English or any of the 22 Scheduled Languages.

CBSE Expression Series Reward

All the participants and the winners will be awarded certificates and a cash prize will be awarded to the winner. The details of the Prizes are as follow:

  • Cash Prize: 12 winners from each category will be awarded a cash prize of Rs.2500 and Certificate of Merit.
  • The inclusion of entry in the book/ebook: The winning entries will be compiled in the form of a book/e-book for wider sharing of the idea and thoughts.
  • Certificates: All the students participating in the expression series will be awarded Certificate of Participation.

CBSE Expression Series Application form and Process

The entries can be submitted Online only, the details related to submission are mentioned toward the end of the same page. In order to participate in the CBSE Expression Series, the applicants need to follow the below-mentioned guidelines:

  • Language: The Submission can be in any of the 22 scheduled languages or in English as well. (Links will be updated when available)
  • Categories: The expression series has been divided into 3 categories on the basis of the classes of the participants:
    • Category 1: Students of class 1-5.
    • Category 2: Students of class 6-8.
    • Category 3: Students of class 9-12.
  • The topic of the Expression series: Different topics has been provided for different categories. Participants may submit Essay / Poem/ Drawing on any one of the following. The category wise details of the topics are as follow:

Submission of the Entries

There are three methods which can be used in order to complete the submission, the details of the submission are as follow:

  • Online Submission: For online submission the students can visit CBSE’s Website, enter the details and complete the submission by filling all the required details.
  • Offline Submission: Offline submission can be done from home or school, the students need to download the form, take the printout of the same, fill in the details, write the essay or poem in the space provided, scan the form and upload it by the means of CBSE’s Website.
  • Mobile Application: The applicants can take a photo of their completely filled application form and upload them to the given mobile numbers.

CBSE Expression Series Selection Process

  • Only original entries are required to be sent for the competition, plagiarized or copied entries may lead to the disqualification of the participation.
  • Multiple Registration in case of online registration on CBSE Website may lead to disqualification.
  • In order to verify the originality, there will also be a telephonic interaction.
  • The decision regarding the winners will be taken by an expert panel.
