CBSE announces Essay Competition from January 21-28, 2015 in memory of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Lala Lajpat Rai (famously known as Punjab Kesari) who gave up their life in India’s struggle for freedom.

Netaji was born on January 23 while Lalaji’s birthday is celebrated on January 28. In commemoration of the two leaders, CBSE will conduct essay writing competition for students from Class 5-7.

  • CBSE has announced the topics for the competition on January 20, 2015, on their official website cbseacademic.in.(You can find the Topics for the Essay writing Competition below)
  • Students from Class 5-7 can submit their essays in English or any of the 22 scheduled languages.
  • Candidates can submit their entries online or offline on www.cbseacademic.in or via mobile phones between 9 AM-9 PM on January 29, 2015.

Details
  • Students should be studying in any of the CBSE affiliated schools in India.
  • Students must belong to Class 5, 6 or 7

Reward

  • Cash prize: Top 36 entries will win Rs 2500 each
  • Certificate of Excellence: Each of the 36 winners will also be awarded a certificate of excellence.
  • Certificate of Merit: Every participant will win a certificate of merit, even if his/her entry is not among the best 36 entries.

Application form and Process

Students themselves cannot participate in the Essay Writing Competition rather the school will choose the 5 entries and send it to CBSE.

Each school has to submit 5 best entries to CBSE on January 29, 2015 through the online submission link that would be available.

Students can write and submit their essays on any one of the above-mentioned topics. The essay should be submitted in the following format. Students can download this format and write the essay.

Guidelines for Writing & Submission of the Essay

  • The size of the entry submitted by the participants should not exceed 5MB.
  • Do not send your entry via e-mail: Entries sent via e-mail will be disqualified.
  • Students should send their entry according to the Class category. Participants not following this rule, will be disqualified.
  • The essays should not be more than the specified word limit.
  • Students are to strictly follow the format provided in Annexure 1A.

Submission of the Essay Contest

Entries can be submitted online either via google form or can be uploaded after writing it in the Format provided by CBSE. The links to submit the essay will be available on January 29, 2015

ONLINE: Candidates can submit their entries online by visiting the official website www.cbseacademic.in and clicking on the online submission link.

OFFLINE:

  • Participating students can also apply offline by downloading Annexure 1A.
  • They are required to fill the top box on the sheet with their full name, class, name of the school, phone number along with valid e-mail address.
  • The blank space provided on the sheet will be used for writing their entry.
  • After completing the entry, participants are required to scan the image and send via Whatsapp on the following Numbers
    • Participants from Class 5 will send their entry to: +91-7042745234.
    • Participants from Class 6 will send their entry to: 91-9910356962.
    • Participants from Class 7 will send their entry to: +91-9910356965.

Selection Process

  • Copied or plagiarised entries will be rejected. Only original content will be considered.
  • Telephone Verification: Selected students will have to go through a telephonic verification.
  • The panel of experts’ decision will be final and no communication regarding this will be considered after the selection of the winners.
