About CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year

CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year 2017- The Royal Photography society represents the Urban Photographer Competition 2017. This year, the competition has geared up even more than ever attracting more than ever photographers from around the world. The theme of the CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year 2017 is "Cities of Connections: People, Places, and Perspectives’’ which requires photographers to capture the beauty of cities at any time be it inspiring, amusing or fascinating.

  • Participants need to make online submission of their entries before 30 November 2017The contest will accept 24 photographs representing the work of each hour in a day.
  • In creating the CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year competition, CBRE aims to enhance its understanding of the built environment on a global scale by seeing urban areas through different eyes.

  • CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year 2017 is open to both professional photographer and amateurs.
  • There will be three age groups to participate in CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year 2017
    • Category 1: Age 13-15 years (Youth)
    • Category 2: Young Person- Age 16-18 years (Student)
    • Category 3: Age 19 and over

CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year Reward

Grand Prize: One winner will win a Photo Safari Holiday for two and CBRE will cover the cost up to $10,000 and an Instagram Takeover.

Guidelines for Rewards

  • The potential winners will be notified via email until March 2018
  • Instagram Takeover: Winners Photos will be showcased and displayed on the Sponsor Instagram page after the winners have been announced.
  • In the case of a minor prize winner, the prize will be handed over to his/her parents.
  • Prizes cannot be claimed by a third party on behalf of a winner.

CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year Application form and Process

The Application process of the CBRE Urban Photographer 2017 is completely online and the entries need to be uploaded online using the portal.

  • Participation Fee: There are no participation fees to enter the contest.
  • No. of Entries: Each Individual can only send at the maximum 24 photos representing each hour of the day.
  • The candidates are only allowed to click and send one picture of one time.
  • Upload photos and describe very briefly about each one descriptively mentioning the hour it was clicked in, not strictly but it should look like as it was clicked at that time of an hour.
  • The photo should be original and should not have been known as used earlier in any other contest.
  • Any photograph which violates humanity morals and raises issues (such as drugs, alcohol, sexual assault, violence, weapons) will be rejected then and there only.

Photograph Specifications

  • Format: The photo must be in jpg format
  • Size: Must be between 300KB and 8MB
  • Resolution: Photos must be a minimum of 300 dpi (8" X10)
  • Colour: Photos must be saved in RGB/sRGB colour
  • Information: Provide your personal information.
  • Photos: Photos must at least 300 dpi.

CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year Selection Process

All the contestants will be shortlisted and judged on the given below parameters. The winners will be informed by the CBRE through email.

CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year 2017 - Judging Parameter

Preliminary judging (16 and above)

The photos will be judged on various subjects
and hourly judges will be selected.

Finalist judging (16 and above)

After the above judging the finalist will then be called and the photo with the highest score will be deemed for the grand prize winner.

Plan international student judging (16 to 25)

The photo with the highest score will be
then judged by the president of plan international.

Plan international youth judging (13 and above)

The photo for the highest score will be
deemed for youth winner.
