SOL DU 1st Year Students didn’t get the syllabus, study material for the course that has been started in July. The reason behind the delay in printing the books was because of a lack of communication between SOL’s teacher and its printing committee. Now students are on road along with a few teachers who are supporting them. A senior SOL accepted the delay in printing though also added that material is available online.

SOL DU Admission - School of Open Learning Delhi University

What is SOL or School of open learning?

School of open learning or SOL is India’s first open and distance learning institute has around 4.5 lakhs students this year. Students who will graduate would be considering the same who would graduate from DU’s regular college though now it seems a dream for all those who joined in hope of this. A critical condition of failure in masses may arise if it would not take care properly and in time.

According to reports, printing committee starts the process in April and completed it in June but this year printing committee was set up without consulting with teachers and by the time teachers involved in the further process to remove the errors, it almost 6 months have passed. A senior SOL official accepted that the printing process was delayed but said that the study material was available online.

  • Students spent a whole semester without getting any study material.
  • Over 4.5 lakhs students are registered at the current time.
  • School of open learning (SOL) is India first open and distance learning institutes.

  • J Khuntia, president of teacher's association rebuked the department and said it is unfair to the students who waited for more than six months for the study material and still did not get it.
  • Around 55 teachers of SOL and other DU colleges met the chairman of Campus of Open Learning, C S Dubey, and protested on 1 December 2017 but they were not able to contact Dubey, as he couldn’t be available.
