Students from India have got a great opportunity to win ”THE CHRISTCHURCH EDUCATED SKILLS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME” worth more than Rs.75 lakhs and their aim is to target the Indian graduates to study in ChristChurch at postgraduate level in the fields of rebuild programmes such as Construction, Engineering, ICT & Science. The students can apply by May 16 and the Scholarship will be awarded in early June and session for study period would start most probably in Aug 14 or in Mar 15.
Canterbury in 2010 was hit by earthquake and its effects in 2012 completely destroyed Christchurch, NewZealand`s second largest city. So to rebuild the city New Zealand government invested more than Rs.20,00,000 Crores that offers a wide range of education and employment opportunities in the region. The initiator has partnership between ENZ and CDC (Canterbury Development Corporation).
Ziena Jalil , regional director — South Asia, ENZ, said, "The scholarship will not only provide skill specific education to students but will also give them an opportunity to work on completion of their studies”. While David Shearer, workforce manager, CDC, said, "Due to the Canterbury rebuild programme, skilled people with appropriate qualifications will find exciting career prospects in the region"
