The Honorable Supreme Court cancels counselling by Private Medical Colleges. Therefore, the MBBS/BDS admission to Pvt medical colleges will be done through Centralized Counselling procedure. The Supreme Court implemented few days before that the admission of the MBBS/BDS will be based on NEET scores obtained by the students. Soon after, the SC said that the Private Medical Colleges cannot conduct counselling for admission to MBBS and BDS.

The Petition was filed by Madhya Pradesh Government seeking contempt proceedings against private colleges and further added that the colleges are violating the order of the Supreme Court by holding their own counselling for MBBS and BDS admission. The Supreme Court passed the petition offers accordingly. The order has wider application as the private colleges in other states are also conducting counselling that has been challenged in the court.

A five-judge Constitution bench, headed by Justice A R Dave including A K Sikri, Adarsh K Goel, R K Agarwal and R Banuathi said that if any counselling has been done by any colleges or University and any admission has been made so far, then that admission gets cancelled and their admission shall be given only as per centralized counselling will be done by the Medical Board of the State Government. The bench of five judges said that the State Government has to complete the counselling process for both Private and Government Colleges within a week.
