Tenth standard students will appear for their optional proficiency test between 14th and 18th April 2014. This test is for students who will appear for their final exams in March.
The main motive of the proficiency test is for students to know their academic standing in their subjects and to motivate them to excel, as well as to provide feedback to schools on the level of learning of their students and to improve their future education plan.
Tests will be conducted in five main subjects studied by the tenth standard student. Each subject will have a separate test. Only one test will be conducted per day. The proficiency test will be administered on the same day by all willing schools across the country.
The question paper is in the multiple choice format with 2 ½ hours fixed as the time duration for the test. The question paper in every subject is for 100 marks and based on the 9th and 10th syllabus prescribed by the CBSE. Students are advised to answer only those questions which they are sure of, as there is negative marking. The question paper will be of a very different format than the one conventionally asked in the final exams conducted by the board. The test is to assess the student in skill and ability to understand a concept and analyse it in a given situation in everyday life. Students will be given a certificate by the board mentioning their percentage.
Applications should be sent through the school till the end of December. An examination fee will be collected. The information regarding the exam fees and mode of payment could be got through the school.
