Odisha Government has decided to conduct 2nd OJEE 2016 according to the order of Honorable High Court of Odisha. The decision was made to fill the vacant seats for B.Tech, MCA, and MBA in several private engineering colleges of the state.
The entrance exam for 2nd OJEE 2016 will be conducted on July 31, 2016. The process of conducting the second OJEE started in the year 2011, but it was in the year 2013 that the Odisha Government did not conduct any special Joint Entrance Examination.
The Application Process for 2nd OJEE have started from July 22, 2016, and will end on July 25, 2016. The declaration of 2nd OJEE Result will be on August 8, 2016, and thus, the Odisha Government decided to do make the seat allotment procedure by August 10, 2016.
Odisha Private Engineering College Association (OPECA) filed a petition to the High Court and the Division Bench of the High Court has given orders to conduct 2nd OJEE based on this petition. The petition had contested the intake capacity of B.Tech students in Odisha Engineering Colleges on the basis of a single All India JEE by violating a provision of Odisha Professional Education Act.
The Petition said before merging with All India JEE, the State Act was not amended. However, there was a provision under the State Act to commence the 2nd OJEE to fill up the vacant seats if any. According to OPECA President Binod Das, there are 32,000 vacant seats remaining out of total 43,000 seats in 93 Engineering colleges in the State even after completing the admission based on All India JEE.
