NEET Counselling will be conducted by DMER in Maharashtra for the admission to the Medical & Dental Courses as per the latest Notification of Ministry of Health. Now, the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), which is a part of the Maharashtra (State) Government, will conduct counselling and admission process for private and deemed medical colleges from the next academic year 2017-18. The DMER (Directorate of Medical Education and Research) will soon issue a notice for the medical admission counselling.

On 11 March 2017, the centre has given an instruction to the Maharashtra government to conduct counselling and admission process in their private and deemed medical colleges. The union health minister has directed the Maharashtra government to conduct counselling for admission in their medical and dental colleges.

NEET 2017: Seat Allotment in Unaided Medical College


As per the latest news, Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) will be conducting counselling for allotment of seats in Unaided Medical Colleges. However, the association of  Unaided Medical College is planning to challenge the MCI order to regard the issue. 

President of the Unaided Medical College Association, Kamal Kishor Kadam said: "We are awaiting the High Court verdict and haven't decided on the further course of action". He also said that after hearing the issue in the high court on 14 March, we will go through the MCI order and decide whether to challenge it or not.

View of concerned person on NEET Counselling in Maharashtra


After this decision the views of the concerned persons are as follows. It might be a difficult position for the Unaided Medical Colleges, but on the other hand, parents feels more contended to it. There will be a common counselling conducted in all the states of India which will be coordinated by the State Governments as per the latest news.

What DMER has to say for NEET Counselling in Maharashtra?


The High Court will hear the directorate's plea to conduct state-level counselling on 14 March 2017. The recent order of the ministry has further strengthened their claim to conduct counselling for admission within the state. The director of DMER, Pravin Shingare has said. "We will go ahead with the MCI's order and issue a notification. Our case has become stronger". Earlier a notice has been issued by the DMER to conduct counselling for medical and dental admission to private and medical institutes in the state from the academic year 2016-17 was challenged by the private colleges in the high court.

What parents has to say for NEET Counselling in Maharashtra?


Mahendra Choudhury, a father, whose son is going to appear in NEET 2017 examinations said, "Earlier, applicants had to go to individual colleges for counselling and confirming their admissions. They had to pay admission fee separately. Now, this will be streamlined and there will be more transparency." The parents also want the state government must now work for regulating the course fee in all private and deemed medical colleges in the state.
