Mumbai University First Merit List

The first cut-off list was disclosed on June 19, 2014 by the Mumbai University. The cut-offs of various renowned colleges have been increased by 2-3% as compared to last year’s cut-offs. Most of the acclaimed art colleges have witnessed an increase of 9-4% in that stream.

There has been an increase in the cut-offs due to inflation in the scores of ICSE and CBSE students. Most of the colleges managed to fill up 60% of the seats soon after the releasing of the first merit list. The deadline for pre-admission online registration has been extended by the University till 12 noon on June 27, 2014. Students were seen disheartened due to the high cut-offs in self-financed courses. Students from the state board could not make up to the cut-offs of the first merit list. The principal of St. Xavier’s college mentioned that they do not expect to come out with the second cut-off list.

In most of the self-financed courses, cut-offs are above 90-92% in the most renowned colleges. These seats are acquired by the ISCE and CBSE students. Cut-offs for self financed courses such as BBI and BAF at Jai Hind College have inflated this year. The overall cut-off has been increased by 1-2% since 2013-14.

Mumbai University Second Merit List

The second merit list was revealed on June 21, 2014 by the Mumbai University. A decline of just 2-3% was witnessed in the second cut-off list. Cut-offs in the second merit lists of various colleges is still higher than 2013-14. The cut-offs of courses such as Bachelor of Accounting and Finance, Bachelor of Management Studies and Bachelor of Mass Media remained to be high in the second merit list too. But, some colleges witnessed a downfall in the cut-offs. The cut-offs of St. Xavier’s College are lower than 2013-14 as the students with percentages have not applied because the Delhi University admissions are yet to start.

The third merit list is expected to be announced by 6.00pm on June 24, 2014. There is still hope for the students to get into the courses of their choice after the announcement of the third cut-off list.
