Dates for JEE Advanced 2015 conducted by Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) has been announced. The website of IIT Bombay made public that the JEE Advanced exam for admission to the 2015-16 session will be held on May 24, 2015.
JEE Advanced is divided into two papers and will take place in various centres across the country. The timings for the first and second paper (AAT) are from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and
2 p.m. to 5 p.m. IST respectively.
Recently, a joint meeting between members from the Union Ministry of Human Resources and Development and from the IIT council resulted in the reviewing of certain eligibility criteria for the Advanced category of the JEE exam. Previously only students who had passed the JEE Main Exam were allowed to write the JEE advanced category, now any student with 75% marks in Class 12 will be allowed to take up the JEE Advanced exam. This timely change in the eligibility criteria is in accordance to the Prime Ministers directive to educational institutions to provide more opportunities to students and also aims at bridging the educational gap in the country.
In 2014, thirteen lakh students wrote the JEE Main exam. Candidates from now on will be allowed to attempt the IIT JEE Advanced exam only twice.
JEE Advanced is an exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and serves as a portal for students to enter distinguished engineering colleges across the country. JEE Advanced score is the sole deciding factor for a candidate's entry into an IIT.
