Around 360 scholarships worth one million pounds for September 2014 to January 2015 the largest ever scholarship programme for Indians looking to pursue their education in the UK is offered by the British Council.
Institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are participating in this programme. Scholarships would be offered for 260 undergraduate and post-graduate courses ranging from engineering, law and business to art and design, biosciences and IT.
As part of the ‘GREAT BRITAIN’ campaign, the Council announced the conduct of the ‘GREAT UK Education Seminar’ at The Residency in Coimbatore on Tuesday. The seminar would cover various aspects of studying and living in the UK, student visas, IELTS and an insightful session with alumni of their experience of studying in the UK, said Paul Sellers, Director, British Council Operations, South India. He also added “Now is an excellent time for students to visit the UK for top quality education and cultural experience.’’
Andrew Soper, Counsellor (Prosperity), British High Commission, New Delhi said “We want the brightest and best students to come and study at our universities in the UK. There are no limits on the numbers who can come and one can stay on to work after graduation. A UK degree is seen as a stepping stone to a great career, the world over.”
Of the 4 lakh foreign students pursuing education at present in the UK, 30,000 were from India.
