Students at the School of Open Learning, Delhi University, demanded the vice-chancellor to postpone the exam. The students were angry by the late release of exam date sheet. Students pursuing Master degree in political science were shocked to see the datasheet of the final exams, According to the SOL DU datasheet, exams were supposed to start from Thursday but the students pursuing Masters Degree in Political Science received the datasheet on last Monday.

"Students of MA in Political Science are panicking since their exams are set to begin on November 24 and they have no time to prepare. The students had earlier met SOL authorities seeking to get their exams rescheduled. It should be noted that in the past years too, SOL had caused trouble for students by announcing such untimely date sheets, and a consequence of which many students had failed. This decision again reveals the ad-hoc nature of SOL administration and its apathetic attitude towards students," According to a report this statement was delivered by the Krantikari Yuva Sangathan, a student group of students.

Delay in Release of SOL DU Date Sheet

The students were distressed by the late date release of exam date sheet  and protested against the early decision of the authorities as their voices remain unheard. Of the 12,000 postgraduate students at School of Open Learning (SOL), 300 students are pursuing Master's degree in Political Science. The University of Delhi usually declares date sheets for regular students one month prior to the beginning of exams.

"This information is publicly available and all students," Says Authorities !

Despite the allegation of the students, the SOL official said that the authority has updated the date sheets as early as in July and also declared the commencement of exam on November 24 this year.

"This information is publicly available and all students should be aware of this," Examination Dean Vinay Gupta said. However, the students pointed out that no specified information on subject-wise date sheet is mentioned in the academic calendar.

"If that is the case, why does the university release the date sheet for regular students a month in advance? Students are rarely aware of the academic calendar and have a vague idea that exams start in November. Does this mean it is acceptable to release the subject specific date sheet three days before the exam?" said one SOL student Tarun Singh.
