Candidates who lost their precious time due to technical glitches while writing CLAT 2018 will be awarded compensatory marks, however, there will be no interfere made in CLAT 1st round of counselling. The qualified candidates after getting compensatory marks will be called for the 2nd round of counselling only. The Supreme Court ordered the conducting body of CLAT, NUALS Kochi to publish the revised merit list till 16 June 2018.

Earlier, CLAT first round of counselling commenced on 8 June 2018 meanwhile, the hearing on the petition which was filled by glitches-hit CLAT candidates was running in the court. A duo of UU Lalit and Deepak Gupta in Supreme Court approved the formula to reward the compensatory marks to those students who filled the petition and lost the valuable time while writing CLAT. The apex court of India also stated that they won't interfere in the 1st round of CLAT counselling. After granting the compensatory marks, a revised merit list will be prepared, based on which the 2nd round of CLAT counselling will be held.

As per sources, 4690 candidates faced the technical glitches and registered problem regarding the same. However, Supreme Court denied the Re-Test of CLAT but directed NUALS Kochi to award compensatory marks to the students who registered for the problem. As many as 55,000 candidates appeared in CLAT 2018 to fill around 2342 seats in 19 National Law Universities.

CLAT 2018 – The story so far

CLAT 2018 conducted on 13 May 2018. Candidates who appeared in CLAT exam raised the issues faced by them due to technical glitches while writing the test. Later, several petitions were filed against NUALS, Kochi who poorly conducted CLAT 2018 according to the law aspirants. However after so much hue and cry, Supreme Court ordered NUALS, Kochi to register the problem of the students, and then a formula was created to reward them with the compensatory marks. However, the first round of counselling ended and the marks will be allotted for the second round of counselling. In all the moment, Supreme Court took some big decision like ‘denied Re-test of CLAT’; No stay on the publication of CLAT result and ‘No Interfere in CLAT 1st round of counselling’.
