Common Proficiency Test will be held on June 22, 2014 as directed by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. CPT exam is conducted by the Examination Department of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, twice in a year that is in June and December for entering into the Chartered Accountancy Course. Students are eligible for this exam after completing their class 12. The Exam would be conducted in centres across India and in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bahrain, Doha & Kathmandu.
CPT is a 4 hour examination and consists of objective questions. CPT exam consists of Questions in four subjects namely; The Fundamentals of Accounting, Mercantile Law, General Economics and Quantitative Aptitude of 200 marks with 25% negative marking for every incorrect answer.
The exam is divided into two sessions:
First Session- 10.30am to 12.30pm
Fundamentals of Accounting- 60 Marks
Mercantile Law- 40 Marks
Second Session- 2.00pm to 4.00pm
General Economics- 50 Marks
Quantitative Aptitude- 50 Marks
Students who do not manage to qualify CPT Exam in the June attempt can appear for the exam again in December 2014.
Students need to score minimum 50% in aggregate to clear CA CPT examination and 30% individually in each subject to finally clear the examination.CPT Result will be declared after one month from the date of Examination and the CPT registration stays valid for 3 years.
