Candidates representing minority communities pursuing their professional and technical courses should apply for the minority scholarships both online and offline on or before 17 December 2013, reminded the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE).
In the last two months, DTE had extended the minority scholarship application date twice. Earlier it final date was October 15, later it was postponed to November 20 and rescheduled to December 17.
According to a DTE circular, a provisional merit list will be put on display on December 28. Candidates having grievances can contact the DTE through their respective institutes by December 30. The final merit list will be displayed on December 31. The scholarship amounts will be deposited in the respective bank accounts of the selected candidates.
The post HSC courses include all under-graduate (UG) courses in arts, science and commerce streams. The technical and professional courses for the scholarship include a bachelor of engineering, masters of engineering, M-Tech, master in computer application, pharmacy, hotel management and catering technology, architecture, town planning and MBA.
The candidates belonging to the Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Parsi and Jain communities are eligible for the application. The minorities' development department offers a scholarship of up to Rs 30,000 for a student pursuing post-HSC professional and technical courses every year. According to the DTE website, as many as 21,748 scholarships are offered every year across the state for the minority community candidates.
