UCEED 2018 – Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design 2018 will be conducted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay under the guidance of the UCEED Admissions Committee 2018. It was for the first time in the year 2015 that IIT Bombay has introduced a Bachelor of Design programme. This is the 4th year of admission to IIT Bombay's B.Design programme through UCEED 2018.
UCEED 2018 will be conducted for the admission into 4 years Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) programme in any of the given below institutes:

Last year qualified candidates were admitted to the B. Des programmes at IIT Bombay and IIITDM Jabalpur. Moreover, few more institutes will also admit students to their B. Des programmes through UCEED and they are:
A candidate, including a foreign national, must fulfil each and every one of the following three criteria to appear in UCEED 2018.
UCEED Number of attempts: Any candidate is eligible for only two consecutive attempts of the UCEED Exam. UCEED score is valid for one year, and only for admissions in the corresponding academic year.
Candidates are required to fill the UCEED Application Form online for the undergraduate course accessible to all the candidates until 10 November 2017. The entire process of making an application for admission in various courses during the academic session 2018-19 is ONLINE. Applicants will have to follow the basic steps and the link given below to apply online.

Only eligible candidates for UCEED 2018 will be able to download the UCEED Admit Card 2018, whose application is complete in all aspects. UCEED Admit Card 2018 will be issued and available online from 1 Jan 2018, after 5:00 PM. Applicants can download their hall ticket/ admit card from the link given below.
UCEED application fees are different as per the category. The candidates belonging to the respective categories must pay their application fee accordingly. The fee has to be paid through online mode only that is Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking.

If an applicant has applied after the due date i.e. 10 November 2017, he/she will have to submit their application along with the additional late fee of Rs.500 (plus GST) before the final due date i.e. 17 November 2017.
Annual fee structure at the different IITs will be disclosed soon before the date of admissions but candidates can take the idea from the previous year fee structure of the B.Desing course.

The performance of the candidate in UCEED 2018 will make them eligible for admission to the B.Des Program in the accepting institutes as well as IITs. Students admitted to the B. Des programme will not be eligible for branch change to any other undergraduate programmes offered by IIT Bombay at any time during the entire duration of the programme.

The Questions in the Exam will be asked on the following topics
Visualisation and Spatial Ability
Pictorial and diagrammatic questions to test, understanding of transformation and/or manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships, knowledge of practical and everyday mechanical and scientific concepts
Observation and Design Sensitivity
Ability to detect concealed properties in ordinary things, people, situations, and events, and thinking critically about them. Applying attention to certain details, analysing, reasoning, classifying, inferring and predicting. Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes.
Environmental and Social Awareness
General awareness of environmental factors such as climate, population, water, vegetation, pollution, weather, natural resources etc., and their implications on the design of products, images, infrastructure and environment. Awareness of social and cultural connection with the design, history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses. History of art, sculpture and literature.
Analytical and Logical Reasoning
Ability to look at information, be it qualitative or quantitative in nature and discern patterns within the information. Ability to weigh opinions, arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria. Ability to check for hidden bias or hidden assumptions and whether evidence and argument support conclusions. Ability to use logic and structured thinking to deduce from a short passage, which of a number of statements is the most accurate response to a posed question. Data Interpretation, brainteasers, and patterns.
Language and Creativity
Design Thinking and Problem-Solving
Ability to use visual analogies, metaphors, signs and symbols. Ability to understand complexity, identify the problem, generate alternatives, evaluate options and select solutions.
UCEED 2018 will be conducted in the below mentioned 20 cities in India. Candidates should compulsorily choose 3 cities of their choice, in the order of preference, at the time of online registration.
