About SOL DU

SOL DU Admission 2018 - School of Open Learning Delhi University Application Process is most likely to start from June 2018. However, the exact date has not been released by the University yet. The School of Open Learning (SOL)  is a distant learning institution which comes under Delhi University and is suitable for those students who want to attain Higher Education and Vocational Skills. School of Open Learning Delhi University was established in the year 1962. SOL DU started with 900 students in 1962 and for the academic year 2013-14, it enrolled around 4 lakh students and in 2014-15 around 4.5 lakh students were enrolled in DU SOL. Delhi University regular has only 54000 UG seats. The DU SOL is expected to publish the brochure for the SOL DU Admission 2018 on its official web portal, soon. SOL DU has two centres one in North Delhi and the other in South Delhi and offers the course in English as well as Hindi medium except for BA (H) English. It offers admission to five courses

Short Term Courses for SOL Students

  • School of Open Learning has introduced some short-term courses to enhance the employability of the students. Delhi University has tied up with various industry partners for these courses. Students who get enrolled in these courses get a Joint Certificate from the University and the Industry Partners like CII, HCL, Birla Academy etc.
  • Most of these courses are of 6 months duration which includes a 2-month internship. After completing the programme, the student will be eligible for the placements.
  • There are around 21 short-term courses offered by the university.  The fees for these courses are in the range of Rs.3000 - Rs. 25,000.

SOL DU Eligibility criteria

Who can apply to SOL DU

  • Indian citizens
  • Indian nationals working in Indian missions abroad and their dependents, subject to appearing in University Examination at Delhi centre only.
  • Indian nationals settled abroad, subject to appearing in University Examination at Delhi centre only (Indian nationals settled abroad have to submit a duly attested photocopy of the passport).
  • Foreign nationals residing in India.

Age: There is no minimum age for applying to UG Course in School of Open Learning Delhi University

Qualifying Examination: Candidate must have passed any of the following examinations

  • Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (Class 12) of CBSE or an examination recognised as equivalent there to

OR

  • Pre-University Examination (2 years after 10 years schooling) of an Indian University recognised by University of Delhi.

OR

  • Intermediate Examination of an Indian University/Board or an examination recognised as equivalent.

OR

  • Indian School Certificate Examination (Class 12) of the Council of Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi.

General Certificate of Education of U.K:

  • Pass in 5 subjects of ordinary level
  • At least in two subjects at an Advanced level. These two advanced level courses may either be chosen from among the5 ordinary level subjects or from outside this group as prescribed by the University of Delhi.
  • The students who have passed Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of the C.B.S.E. Delhi from 1981 under Vocational Technical Stream

SOL DU Eligibility - Minimum Percentage of Marks

The SOL DU Eligibility criteria for the admission to the different courses offered by the SOL Du is given in the table below. The candidates are suggested to go through the table below to get a minimum percentage of marks required for the admission.

  • OBC: Relaxation of 10% in the minimum eligibility prescribed for the General Category.

SOL DU Application form and Admit Card

School of Open Learning Application Form can be filled through online mode. However, the offline for filling facility is also available but it is only available for the PWD, BPL, NHE (Female), and admission through FSR Students (Foreign students).

The application process for SOL DU Admission 2018 is expected to start in June 2018. Once the application process of DU SOL Admission 2018 for various UG and PG courses is started, candidates will be able to know the last date to submit the Application form with and without late fees. Once the candidates have submitted the Application Form and fee, they receive a welcome message along with a Virtual Identity Card from SOL.

We have provided the instructions which would have to be followed to fill the application form helping the candidates to correctly fill up the application form. The candidates should follow the instructions below and fill the application form for SOL DU Admission. The instructions given below are for filling up the online application form for SOL DU.

  • The candidates applying for any of the above-mentioned courses would need to fill the application form by following the link given on this page above.
  • On successful registration, candidates will receive a username and password through email or text message on the phone and log in with using the credentials.
  • On successful login, candidates have to select admission tab on the top left-hand side of the screen.

Filling up the SOL DU Admission Form

  • In the admission tab, the candidate will have to fill all the information related to their name, address, date of birth, academic qualifications etc. and save it by clicking on the save button.
  • They will have to upload his/her photo in jpg format and documents in pdf format.
  • Save all the details and after checking them click on “finally submit”.
  • In case the candidates are not satisfied with the shown details,they can edit it by going to admission tab and then again click on save button.

Paying Admission Fee for SOL DU Admission

For completing the application process, on the next working day candidates have to deposit the admission fee through three ways:

  • IDBI Net Banking
  • IDBI Card
  • Online Payment (SBI)
  • For filling the fee details, again candidates have to the login and go to admission tab where they will get payment option on clicking on finally submit.
  • After making successful payment admission process will be completed.

SOL DU Admission Form 2018 - Steps to Fill Offline Form

The Offline Facility is only available for PWD, BPL, NHE (Female), and admission through FSR Students (Foreign students)

  • Carefully fill the application form & card proforma and attach the requisite documents.
  • Submit the application form and documents at the designated SOL counter along with the fee in cash.
  • After submitting the fee, candidates will get an acknowledgment slip.
  • When this whole procedure is completed, the candidate will receive a welcome message after which they can download the SOL fee receipt from the official SOL website.

Documents to be submitted along with SOL DU Offline Application Form

  • Duly Filled Admission Form & Identity Card Proforma
  • Two Recent Size Passport Photographs to be affixed one on the Application Form and another on Identity Card Proforma.
  • Self-Attested photocopy of Class 10 and 12 Certificate and Marksheet
  • Original Copy of Migration Certificate/Transfer Certificate (if the candidates studied from the boards other than NIOS, UP, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, etc)
  • Self-attested photocopy of Reserve Category Certificate of the candidates, applicable for SC/ST/PWD etc. candidates. The certificate must have issued before the date of admission.
  • Original Income Certificate, if applying for Fee Concession/financial assistance.
  • Self Attested photocopy of BPL/AAY Ration Card, for financial assistance)

Submission of the Application Form


The candidates after filling the Online Application Form, would need to submit any kind of hard copy to SOL DU. But the candidates who would have filled the Offline Application Form would need to send the hard copy of the duly filled in Application Form along with the documents mentioned above to SOL DU.

SOL DU Admit Card will be available on the official website of School of Open Learning, Delhi University. Once the admit card will be released by the official website of the SOL DU. The link to download the same will be available on this page.

The admit card will be released on the official website and after the release of the answer key, the candidates are suggested to download the admit card and check the details like name of the students, exam centre, exam dates etc. on the printed admit card.

SOL DU Fees

The candidates filling the online application form do not need to pay any application fee but if the candidates are applying through offline mode have to deposit the required amount to get the application fee. The application fee amount needs to deposit is given below.

Selection of Category while paying the SOL DU Admission Form

The candidates are advised to select the right category while filling the application process. The categories of the students who can apply for the SOL DU 2018 are given below.

DU SOL Annual Fee Structure


The candidates have to pay the course fee along with the DU SOL Application Form. The course fee given by each category is given below.

For PwD Category the fees are only Rs. 65 for all the courses and they have to attach the proof for the same.

SOL DU Result and Counselling

SOL DU result for the Undergraduate course for the current academic year 2017-18 is most likely to get announced in the month of August-September 2018 but sometimes the result gets late. Once the result gets announced, the candidates are advised to fill the application form for the next year.

But if in case there is a back in any subject then they have to fill in the Re-Appear Form or Revaluation form for which the exam get conducted whereas for the latter i.e. revaluation results will be declared in one or two months’ time.

SOL Virtual Classroom


The School of Open Learning (SOL) at University of Delhi has started digital classes which are called virtual classes or webinar. The first virtual class was organised on 3 December 2016 and the next class was held on 8 December 2016. The virtual classes run for maximum 300 minutes. 

How to Join SOL Virtual Classroom

The candidates can join the virtual classroom (Webinar) by following the simple steps given below:

  • The candidates can join the virtual class by entering their name 
  • After entering the name, the candidates will be able to enter the live classroom and have sessions.

Requisites to Join SOL Virtual Classroom

The candidates are required to have the following requisites to join the virtual classroom (webinar):

  1. PC (Personal Computer) with a stable internet connection
  2. Latest versions of either Mozilla or Google Chrome
  3. Headset with a microphone to have a two-way communication online
