About BPT Course

Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is a popular undergraduate course in India which helps the students to develop their basic understanding of human body based on medical science. Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) Courses in India - Eligibility and Admission


BPT is a medical related undergraduate course for the candidates who want to pursue a career as physical therapists also known as physiotherapists. Process for admission into BPT Course in government and private institute in India is almost as per the details mentioned below:

  • The candidates who are passed in class 12 examination in science side (with Biology as mandatory subject) with minimum 50% marks in each subject (especially in Biology) are eligible to apply for admission.
  • Usually, the minimum age required for application is 17 years but the candidates should not be aged more than 25 years old.
  • Some of the institutes also take admission into BPT course on the basis of NEET score so the candidates must appear in NEET 2018 examination which is going to be conducted on 6 May 2018.

The eligible and interested candidates have to first submit an online/offline application form on the official website or through via post in the respective institute. Thereafter the candidates will be first, selected for the interview. The candidates will be finally selected for counselling on the basis of their Qualifying Entrance Exam/NEET score, his/her performance in Interview and Academic performance.

The students can pursue BPT Course in a regular mode only. UGC had issued a notification in 2010 stating that BPT Course cannot be pursued from distance mode of education. There is no board to conduct counselling process for admission in BPT program. Physiotherapists are continuously demanding to form a board who can regulate BPT admission in government and aided institutes. The demand is for council similar to Medical Council of India, Dental Council of India, Nursing Council of India.

A physiotherapist holding BPT degree can earn 5,000 to 40,000 a month (on an average) and even they can earn more than 1500 per day while working as a private practitioner or working in the private field of physiotherapy. Generally, a fresher physiotherapist can get 5,000 to Rs.15, 000 in private hospitals. In government hospitals, even a junior physiotherapist can earn 20,000 to 30,000 per month. A physiotherapist in teaching jobs can earn Rs. 10,000 to Rs.40, 000 per month. 

On an average, Physiotherapists can earn around Rs 60,000 per month if you have your own clinic and experience of around 3 years. If you work for somebody else, the maximum salary will be around 27000 per month for an eight-hour job for a graduate with 1.5 to 2 years work experience. Home visits will change these figures significantly.
