About RMO–Karnataka Region

  • Regional Mathematical Olympiad is a stepping stone towards the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad, a qualifying stage of International Mathematical Olympiad
  • The RMO across the country is held in 25 regions and CBSE, KVS and JNV.
  • Regional Mathematical Olympiad Karnataka will be held on October 16, 2016 and out of all the applicants taking the RMO test, total 30 candidates will be selected from each region to take INMO.
  • The 58th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from July 12 to July 24, 2017.

About RMO 2016- Karnataka Region

  • Students residing in Karnataka and having Mathematics as their subject are eligible to take the RMO test.
  • Students of Class 9, 10 & 11 are eligible to take RMO 2016 and the test will be held at various centres in Karnataka Region.

RMO–Karnataka Region Eligibility Criteria

Details
  • All Indian students who are born on or after August 1, 1997.
  • Students studying in class 9, 10 and 11 and have Mathematics as their subject can take the Karnataka RMO- 2016.
  • Special Eligibility: Exceptionally students of class 8 can also take RMO at the discretion of the RMO Coordinator, Karnataka. 

    (Prof.B.Sury has taken over as the National co-ordinator from July 1, 2016.)

RMO–Karnataka Region Reward

  • Total 30 students will be selected for the Karnataka Region. (From each region, a maximum of 30 students appeared in  RMO are selected to take the INMO)
  • Selected students will avail the eligibility to attend Indian National Mathematical Olympiad, a subsequent stage of International Mathematical Olympiad 2016.

RMO–Karnataka Region Application form and Process

RMO Registration will be made through school for Regional Mathematical Olympiad 2016- RMO 2016

Interested students have to normally register themselves through the Head of her/his institution.

RMO Karnataka 2016 Registration

  • Students have to contact to their schools to register themselves for Regional Mathematical Olympiad -RMO 2016 for Karnataka Region.
  • They have to pay Rs. 150 as the registration charge.
  • Schools will send a list of candidates mentioned with their names, class, their choice of centres along with registration fees as a single crossed Demand Draft drawn in favor of ‘’ Indian Statistical Institute” payable at Bangalore.
  • On the backside of the DD, name of the institution and their contact number should be written.

Individual Registration for RMO 2016

If in case registration process is not available at the schools, then the interested students may apply directly to the Indian Statistical Institute by sending a DD of Rs. 150 favoring ‘’ Indian Statistical Institute” payable at Bangalore with all the details including name of the applicant, name of school/college, parents’ names, postal address, phone number, centre chosen from the list provided here.

RMO–Karnataka Region Selection Process

Students will be selected based on the marks obtained by them in the Regional Mathematical Olympiad.

INMO training camp (INMOTC) of the Karnataka region will be held tentatively on January 15, 2017, at Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore.
